alokp99 Posted June 29, 2008 Share Posted June 29, 2008 Hi, I am using php5.2.3 with iis and mysql5.0 on win xp.I downloaded installed php,mysql and uncommented php_mysql.dll in the php.ini file which is in windows folder.when i try to run the testmysql connection it just throws up a blank page. does not give me any errors.i cant think of anything.i have used php and mysql before and never faced such a problem.Do you think it has something to do with the norton firewall.I can seem to understand. wildteen88 Posted June 29, 2008 Share Posted June 29, 2008 It has nothing to do with your firewall, but with how PHP loads the mysql extensions. In order for the mysql extension to function correctly PHP needs to be able to find an external library called libmysql.dll. This file should be located in the root of the PHP Installation folder. Make sure you have done the following. - Added PHP to the PATH Environment Variable. - Ensured PHP is reading the php.ini you're editing - Setup extension_dir to point to PHP's extension folder Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

PFMaBiSmAd Posted June 30, 2008 Share Posted June 30, 2008 Set display_errors = On in your php.ini and stop and start the web server to get any changes made to php.ini to take effect. When learning php, developing php code, or debugging php code, you need this on anyway. This will both tell you if the php.ini is actually getting loaded (the phpinfo() output states that the one being loaded is where you stated you put yours) and it will hopefully tell you why the code is not working. The blank page is either because of an undefined mysql function call or there could be something like a syntax error in the code. Posting the code you are trying would help also. alokp99 Posted July 1, 2008 Author Share Posted July 1, 2008 Hi, php is really freaking me out.I did set display_errors=on and it threw an fatal error mysql function not found error.So I checked my php.ini file and found that the php_mysql.dll,php_mysqli.dll were not uncommented.so i removed the ; and then it worked.But when I tried it after a hour or so I am back to square one with no errors being thrown.
