What Does Your Workspace Look Like?

Instead of necro'ing an old thread, I figured I'd start a new one.

I'm excited as I finally completed the first half of it tonight (the other half will be a bookcase / bike display area.) I had almost all of the parts for close to a month and was only missing 1 part, ugh... how annoying to sit there and see half of the desk just sitting there waiting :P

So I ask you, what does your office / workspace look like?

Sweet setup Philip, very minimalistic, I like.

I don´t exactly have a setup at the moment. My setup gnerally consists of whatever computer I just so happen to be using and usually it is very uncomfortable. I have somewhat of a sloppy personality so my goals for a clean and admirable workspace are usually diminished within a day or two.

As of right now, in Mexico, I have a 10.1" HP netbook with Spanish Win7 Starter because I spilled water on my Lenovo G570 that I had for almost a year. Since it is so small I am using the box it came in to raise up higher. I have a retractable mouse with very minmal space to use it. The desk I am using is very wobbly with hardly any legroom. I am sitting uncomfortably in a fold out chair with cushions. Thank God it at least has cushions! To my left is my twin size bed with no box spring, just a wooden plank. To my right I have a vertical shelf with 5 open compartments and behind me is my bathroom. The room is about 15ft wide give or take. Including the bathroom... the room is 30 ft long give or take.

Someday I hope to have a setup like yours, I am full of jealousy.

Ugh, I hate working off of laptops - both for cramped keyboards and those absolutely retarded trackpads. I almost always have a mouse with it as well, but like you I usually run out of desk space when I'm working offsite. Boo :(

When are you back to the states?

Fisheye lens is cheating!

My home workspace is a big desk with a keyboard/mouse on it, facing a window.

My office workspace is a cubicle with a laptop docking station, additional monitor, and wireless mouse/keyboard combo.

I've never made my workspace anything non-standard for some reason. I'll spend a month on a table to play D&D on, but my computer desk is always "stock" from Ikea or wherever. The machine itself is what I work on.

December 6th. Then I will at least have a 20" monitor and a desktop computer. Still, the space is minimal and my room lacks extra outlets so I pretty much have a power strip attached to a powerstrip. I hope to clean things up when I get back, but it wont be long until I am back in a dormroom.. .. Someday I will get my cool workspace. Until then, I´m just having a good time and coding when I get the chance to make a buck or so.

Nuh-uh! :P

To be fair, this is a pretty standard Ikea desk. I had one difference to make the desk extension longer, but otherwise IKEA FTW!

@Monkuar - I don't know which scares me more, the power supply on the edge of your computer or the amount of liquids on the edge of the desk next to the PC

I'm a very messy person, so mine is usually covered in papers, bottles, etc lol. Once in a while I get in a mood to clean it all up then it looks nice for a few days.

This is as of a few minutes ago.

The desk is from Ikea. Spent a while at various stores trying to find something. Never really found one that I really liked but this one was decent.

The way it curves in the back i would have lost a bit of space between it and the wall corner so I built a little shelf to go back there. I stick my router, modem, and coordless phone base back there out of the way.

Nice job, I hate when desks do that & waste space

First world problems, when tap tastes bad :P

(to be fair, I have one too!)

where to buy a cheap one? does it save money on buying water bottles 24/pack @ wal mart/store on a yearly basis? our family buys hella water bottles.

i would like your model number so i can buy one that is the same so i know im not getting ripped off cuz I trust you.

that could also clean up all my bottles.. rofl great idea actually

The number one thing I miss about my home is the water. I live in a very rural city in the Appalachian mountains of North Carolina so drinking from the tap is no different that bottled water. Additionally, we have springs and wells all around the area. I can literally hike up into the woods, find a spring and drink directly from the puddle it creates..which converts into a creek later on down the mountain.

Sorry, just realized that has nothing to do with workspace.

Indeed lol. The tap here isn't so great. We have two of em actually, there is another in the kitchen by the coffee pot. When I'm extra-thirsty I tend to just bring one in here rather than keep walking back to the kitchen. Had to stick an inline filter on the water line to the fridge for the ice maker too otherwise the ice tastes horrible.

I'm a bit of a minimalist at work, so my office has my laptop & monitor on the desk, a mostly empty file cabinet, and like 4 books on the bookshelf.

And I'm a big fan of good seating, so Mirra at home and Aeron at the office.

The only issue I see is that you need more monitors. At least 3 or 4 more.

Here is my office at home just after moving in to our new place a few months ago.

I'm actually all setup in the corner of the lounge room so I can hang with the family while I work. These pics give you more of an idea of the room.

This is what it typically looks like though: https://www.dropbox.com/s/1697j7jn3rozx3q/IMAG0281.jpg taken just now.
