Hello,

I use 4 different systems and would like to have access to some files on all 4 systems.

Carrying a usb stick is one solution but I would prefer something a little more reliable.

I do not wish to use any cloud service except maybe Owncloud (tried it but ran into problems).

I will probably have to share some files with a few other people who also have 3-4 different systems (typically 1 iphone, 1 android device, 1 win pc  and 1 win tablet)

Does anybody have any good ideas about what to use ?
I was thinking owncloud (after talking to a sales rep I heard they have a do not delete option so that might have been my problem) or a NAS with VPN. I have no experience setting up VPN so that might be interesting.

What do you think ?

Or any good links / forums to get more ideas ?

Unless you need access outside your network, a NAS is plenty. VPN would be more about you wanting access while you're not home (among other things).
