  1. One other thing I wanted to mention: Kafka is a server that can be used to solve common system architecture scalability problems, by providing event driven, queueing and publish/subscribe. As users scale up, it is often the case that you need to queue requests for work, so that you can increase processing capacity by adding workers. There are other well known solutions in the same space like RabbitMQ or ActiveMQ. There are a lot of different options in this space, and as I already mentioned redis, it's a bit of a swiss army knife server, in that it can be used for caching, but also has features that allow you to build queuing with it. Again this is where you can learn and experiment using docker images, as you can spin up an apache kafka container.
