Hello guys i have a problem when i screen scrape a piece of text from a url and save it to my db. The text is in french and contains special characters like é. so when i screen scrape it i receive it in this form &eacute. e.g i have a word région in the website but when i screen scrape it, it becomes région. The reason that i want to store it as it is displayed is that i need to perform some operations on the text after saving it in the db as i want. i manually checked the database, the article id is inserted as i want it but there's nothing in summarized text!

hi folks, i have a variable in which some common words are stored and another variable in which a sentence is stored. I want to remove the common words from the sentence> Is there any way of doing this in PHP? <?php $common_words = "to, this, all, the, from"; $sentence = "I want to remove all the common words from this sentence"; ?> the final output should be: "I remove common words sentence."

suppose i have already extracted a news article(e.g 300 words) and stored it in my database. Next thing i have to do is summarize that article so that it becomes less than 300 words(say 80 words). to do that i need an algorithm to summarize text that already exist. then implement that algorithm in PHP. I don't need scripts that simply reduces the size of an article but summarizes the articles using artificial intelligence.

Is there any simple algorithm to summarize web news articles in PHP?

thanx. modified it,but still getting errors! Ok. I don't really understand what you are trying to do or why, so I can't help much. Your description is not very complete. Can you try to clarify exactly what you are trying to do any for what purpose? I need to summarize an article. First i need to store the article's title in a variable. Then i need to check whether the sentences in the article contains the words(The words need to be greater than 5 characters) in the title of the article. Then if the sentences contain those words i would add the sentence to another variable $summary which would make a summary of the original article! Any ideas??

Actually i need the count of every word so that i can store every word which has greater than 5 characters in an array variable! Then i would use this variable to compare words in another paragraph to check whether sentences in the other paragraph contain these words. If they contain these words then i would add the sentence to a variable $summary which would make the summary of the original paragraph. Any ideas please?
