PHP is way more than a scripting language, I know companies that write large programs in PHP just because of its easy syntax and because many programmers know how to code in PHP. But can't you achieve your goal just by executing a C++ program on your server? You can easily do that in PHP with the exec() function (or passthru() if you need binary data)...

Yes, I did restart my browser. You can find a working example http://www.lookture.com (when you log in and check the "remember me" checkbox). I use really basic code, the one I entered in my opening post. Can it be a problem that my cookie has a length of 248 characters?

I just saw I forgot to end the code tag, so the correct post below: I have quite a big problem when a user visits a website using Firefox. When a user logs in and checks the "remember me" checkbox a cookie is stored using this code: [setcookie('LooktureAuth', $cookie, time() + 2678400, '/'); This works absolutely perfect in Safari, but when I try to access this cookie in Firefox (using $_COOKIE['LooktureAuth']), the cookie is not showed. When the user go's to an other page though, the cookie is showed. Does anyone have an idea why this is happening? Thanks on forehand!

I got it to work! There was an error in my Poedit setup: I entered a wrong value in the plurals box, which made gettext show only 1 character. Fortunately it now work! Thanks a lot for your help!

Oh okay, I understand. I will see whether I can check that on my host using an other method, or do you know an other method? My host says that gettext is supported though... When a locale is not installed, do you then see just one character? Is that always the case? Thanks a lot for your help thus far!

I can't do that, because my hosting is shared. I do not get error messages about an unknown locale in my error log though. An my shared hosting does support gettext.
