  1. I believe there is an Apache module, but that's not a practical solution for anybody on regular shared hosting. There was a Firefox plugin http://firefox-throttle.en.softonic.com/ though no idea if that's compatible with latest releases and a software package called 'Traffic Shaper XP', alas this does not appear to like running on win7 but alternatives may exist.
  2. Because unresolved questions or problems do not contribute to the community
  3. From previous experience I can say it makes more sense to have individual harvesting scripts. The logic being that not all the websites being scanned will update at the same time and you don't want to waste server resources re-reading all 15 sites if only one has updated.
  4. Try this, I think it's what you want. http://thomasjbradley.ca/lab/signature-pad/accept/

  6. Not bad and nothing glaringly wrong so off to a good start. Had a bit of chuckle with the Data Recovery page, will never forget the last quote I gave a client for swapping HDD platters or the odd shade of purple their face went. Contact forms are something that get overlooked quite a bit with many just grabbing the ready made script and bolting it in without looking. Field validation is worth the effort as is a flood control to stop your mail script from being abused by repeated clicking. As many webhosts automated defences will assume that dozens of mails being sent per minute is you spamming and disable the feature or even the entire site account without warning.
  7. Does the page use tables or CSS to control the layout?
  8. Do you allways use some form of SQL database for projects or revert to 'flat file' system such as CSV for simpler tasks?
  9. The web is a big place and few would dare make claim to know all of its meanderings, we are but river pilots each knowing thier particular stretch. Just as many 'Web Designers' can't code for toffee so it is that even a javascript guru will oft be found making a dogs breakfast of a simple SQL query and come asking for help. Speaking of javascript, overuse is one of the classic novice site builders mistakes that results in slow loading times. Keep the fancy effects to a minimum and avoid making requests to external services such as RSS feeds or Font Embedding API's
  10. well... based upon the premise Many blogs provide commentary or news on a particular subject; others function as more personal online diaries. - source wikipedia You have to ask the question: Is a client who is paying for a service likely to be interested in the finer points of accountancy and taxation law or reading about how good/bad your life/business is going at a given point in time? Put more simply.. If I order something online am I ever going to want to read the delivery drivers blog? Informative articles however that are relevent to your existing and prospective clients needs are a good thing, after all a good accountant justifies the size of thier fee in porportion to the money that they can save the client. With this in mind I noticed the newsletter sign up and think you are missing a trick here, do you put the old ones online a month or so after members/signups have had a chance to read them first ? Seems a shame to waste what is probably good content by not sharing it.
  11. Have used simple AJAX chat scripts and even X7chat on free hosting providers with good results.
  12. Well it appears clean and functional, though dubious about the inclusion of a blog however such things are useful for Search Engine Optomisation so will pass on that. Testamonials from existing clients and link exchanges with any websites they have is also worth exploring as are the number of forums where self the self employed gather seeking the benefits of picking somebody elses brains as they may find yours particualry tasty.
