  1. Yup - you need two PHP pages. "main" - shows the form - submit button uses jquery to extract value from form and send ajax request to 2nd page "service" "service" - accepts an ajax request from "main" and returns appropriate data when data is returned to main, perform any required reformatting and use jquery to append to the display area (usually a div)
  2. Once...probably never again unless I start the company The big problem I have with "working for equity" is the offer is generally made by someone who doesn't understand / appreciate the value of technical talent vs. business talent in the early stages of a startup. Now - if the person offering it is either another developer (getting their hands dirty) or a boots-on-the-street sales guy who has a proven ability to close deals (and is willing to work on the same basis), they might be able to talk me into it. But a marketing or "strategic" guy? Never...been there, done that, got the t-shirt...it wasn't pretty...
  3. Adding because I like the topic. I'd advise doing both - I started web development in PHP and split my time between Python and PHP these days (with the occaisonal flirtatation with Haskell)... As long as you keep doing a decent amount of work in PHP (eg. side projects), you will be richer because you have worked in the other language.
