Linking Pages in PHP (main.php?id=***), etc

Greets there! I am very new to PHP programming and to these boards. Sorry if there is a related topic. I am trying to develop my web site using PHP5, and I am currently running EasyPHP (http://easyphp.org) to view the site under my computer on the home URL: [a href=\"http://127.0.0.1\" target=\"_blank\"]http://127.0.0.1[/a]. I am trying to program my pages so that it links to other sections of the site using the format: (main.php?id=topic), but I do not know how I should set this up. Is anyone able to help? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
