1. Thank you so much! the upload is currently working, but I would like to add more fields, such as an email and comment box. I would also love to have a progress bar.. because it seems to take a very long time to upload video, I dont want clients to think the site crashed or is not working... the link is: http://globaltechstudios.com/upload.php
2. I created a form with a file upload button meant to upload large video files to my server, mainly because emails dont allow large files to be transmitted. If I dont set a file size limit in my script will all file sizes be able to uploaded? Are there any advantages to setting a file size? When I tested the upload feature it seemed to take a really long time.. is this due to not setting a file size? Thank you very much! Lisa.
3. yes i want the information uploaded to my server instead of it being emailed to an email address. is that possible??? im not very firmiliar with php but im trying to learn. i have created a form in dreamweaver and i am now just trying to activate it with php.
4. hello i am in the process of making a contact form that has an upload video file. I would like to know if there is a way to have the infomation in the form sent to my ftp server instead of an email address when submitted. any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much.

6.
Can you tell me what you need if it's a simple poll script then try this. http://www.spoono.com/php/tutorials/tutorial.php?id=39
Hi redarrow, thanks for that link however i dont understand it to well i didnt even get past the first part. Its teaching me how to do a poll that has 3 options. I need one like this... http://www.greatestassever.com It also says that i will want to set up some variables to help connect to the database and it list these: $dbhost = "localhost"; $dbname = "YourDataBase"; $dbuser = "YourUserName"; $dbpass = "YourPass"; I didnt set up a local host because my hosting company said i can load the pages right onto my ftp server. And also would  $dbname = "YourDataBase"; be the name i created for my database? im sorry for all the questions im so eager to learn but this has become the most difficult thing to learn.
7. So i contacted my hosting company register.com and they support php and mysql. They told me that I dont need to download mysql or php and that alls i need to do is insert php coding into my html script and load it to my server. They showed me how to set up a database folder on my server. So does anyone know of any good tutorials or a place where you can pay for this specific script i need? any help would be greatly appreciated
8. "How thick is the book?" OH NO!!!
9. I was having a problem loading the script it kept saying page unavailable. So that part that is missing I can insert anywhere? And how far away am I from learning a poll? YOur making me nervous!
10. Well I bought this book called "dreamweaver8 and flash 8" by master visually because I want to create the poll in a website I am working on now. So this book gives you the step by step on installing each server. So I installed apache and php so far now Im at the chapter that says "configure Apache to process PHP code" it tells me that the apache configuration file needs 3 lines to process PHP coding 1) ScriptAlias /php/ "c:/php/" 2) AddType application/x-httpd-php .php 3) Action application/x-httpd-php /php/php-cgi.exe) when searching threw the file I have found only the paragraphs for Scriptalias and Addtype. So i was able to type in the codes that were necessary. I can not find anything in this script that says action application. In the book it shows you the paragraph of where your suppost to type the code needed. The paragraph reads...... # Action lets you define media types that will execute a script whenever # a matching file is called. The eliminates the need for repeat URL # pathnames for oft-used CGI file processors. # Format: Action media/type /cgi-script/location # Format: Action handler-name /cgi-script/location # Action application/x-httpd-php/ php/php-cgi.exe <--- this is the sentence I need to type in the script. If you know where this whole part may go so I can type the whole thing in it would be greatley appreciated. Thank you!!! I have attached the file that I am suppost to add these links into.
# # This is the main Apache HTTP server configuration file.  It contains the # configuration directives that give the server its instructions. # See <URL:http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.2/> for detailed information. # In particular, see # <URL:http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.2/mod/directives.html> # for a discussion of each configuration directive. # # Do NOT simply read the instructions in here without understanding # what they do.  They're here only as hints or reminders.  If you are unsure # consult the online docs. 11. Hey guys Im very new to php and I threw this together in dreamweaver so you will have a basic idea of what I'm trying to do. I want to create a voting poll like the sample link I provided below. I want a radio button under each picture then a vote button at the bottom. I dont want people to be able to vote more then once but however if they try I want a pop up to appear saying that their previous vote will be cancelled. Then after they click vote I want another window to come up showing the totals. Can this be done in dreamweaver? And if so are there any good step by step tutorials on how to do it? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you so much!! (the pictures do not appear in the sample but you can still see what I am trying to do)
12. Can dreamweaver perform something like this or do I need php?
13.
If this user is known to you, as in 'has logged-in', you can keep the voting count in the database with the user's data. If any site vitisor can vote, then all you can do is collect as much data as you can gather, such as referer (not always set), ip address (not always trustworthy), browser data, etc. and store that in the database. And use that to compare with each new vote. Ronald   8)
Hey Ronald, Thanks for the quick reply...but Im sorry I didnt really understand....The only people who can vote are those who are logged in. This is going to be a members paid site. I would like everything to be done automatically if that is possible...So would this be done using php?
14. Hey guys im very new to php and Im working on a website that would need to look like this. I threw this together in Dreamweaver to give you an idea. I need it to be a voting site where there is a check box under each pic where an individual would view all pictures then at the end choose one and click vote having a box appear with the total. Now I dont mind if the person votes more then once however I only want their last vote to count. Now could this be done using php? And if so can anyone point me in the right direction. Thank you so much!! Lisa P.s. I apologize but when you view the sample the pictures dont appear but you can still see what I am trying to aim for!
15.
Yeah if you want to view how your design looks when you click the world icon within DW and its a PHP file, it'll ask you those questions again. However you can run the code through PHP Designer if you have WAMP installed and have PHP Designer setup to point to the PHP Intepreter, all shown on the first video of that site linked above.
if not will it be viewable once i put it in the ftp server?
No, if you run through that first video again on that site. It'll show you how to install a package called WAMP. WAMP is a web server package that you can install your PC. Once you have installed that you can save your files within the htdocs folder of the WAMP package and then go to http://localhost/filename.php to run your PHP scripts.
so wait wamp acts as a web server? im sorry buy i dont understand. how would i connect pages from dreamweaver to a php page in php designer if i cant load the php pages onto my ftp server? is there a good article to read about this? Im sorry to keep bothering you however thank you so much for all your help i appreciate it!
16.
Yeah. But you can still use PHP designer to design the polls. You can use any app you want to you. But with dreamweaver you cannot preview how the page looks if you have PHP in it. If you want to preview the PHP code, you'll want to setup a project within dreamweaver to setup a local testing server etc.
So once i do my poll in php designer i just open it in dreamweaver...now when i start to design my page in dreamweaver and click the world to view it in internet explorer am i going to have answer all those questions again about local server and stuff? also i know that i wont be able to view the php items but what about the the designs i do in dreamweaver? if not will it be viewable once i put it in the ftp server? thank you!!!
17. are you able to bring the php pages into dreamweaver to design them. See cause i want to do a voting poll but one that is a contest. so i want to have pictures of people then a check box under the pictures with a vote button. So they would choose their favorite by checking the box and hitting vote. Then the votes would tally up highest to lowest. Is it possible to do a voting poll like this or are you just able to do the regular polls that have a list of options like these www.poppydog.com/prod/poll.jsp ?
18. It works!!! Thank you sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much!!! You made my day!!!! So now If I want to use php i need to use it on the php developer, not dreamweaver?
19. "Make sure the first screen is setup correctly. If it is click next. Make sure No, I dont want to use a server technology option is selected. Click Next again, and click Next again. Makie sure None is selected for How do you connect to your remove server. After taht Click Next again. Click Done. That shoudl now reset your project settings back to what is was before. NOTE: Dont run php files through Dreamweaver, unless youn ahve setup Dreamweaver to use a remote server or a local testing server (WAMP). You'll want to install WAMP in order for your PHP files to run. Web Browsers dont understand PHP code.
Hello Thank you so much for helping me...Ok so i went to site->manage sites then the manage site window appears. It has the word sample in the box so i highlighted it and clicked edit. Then site definition for sample box appears. It allows me to change: site name, local root folder,a check box to refresh local file list automatically, default images folder, http address, a check box to enable cache.  Can i just delete the word "sample" out of the manage window box? Because i dont see anything that gives me the option to click next or choose no for a server technology option. Thank you so much!!!
20. I am really upset and confussed....Yesterday I had opened dreamweaver mx 2004 to try to play around with a php page. (I am new to php) I had first went to www.phpvideotutorials.com because someone had told me you could learn a lot there. I went step by step with the guy on there and downloaded wamp and php developer. After that I had went to dreamweaver and chose to create a new php page. I was placing some pictures on there and i had clicked on the world icon to view it in explorer when i did that it started asking me all these questions about a local server etc....i didnt know what to put because i am new to php so i guessed. after i was finished it brought up internet explorer and said my page can not befound. So i decided to open an html page which i always work on so i am familiar with that and i just placed some pics on there and when i clicked on the world to view it in enternet explorer it said page not found. I tried it several times, i  thought maybe my internet connection wasnt working but it was.. So i threw away and removed all the applications that i had just downloaded (wamp and phpdeveloper) hoping i could get dreamweaver to work the way i use to use it with the html pages, but i keep getting these pop ups...when i go to create a new html page and view it in enternet explorer the first pop up appears that says: dreamweaver mx 2004   The file "untitled-1.htm" has been modified. do you wish to save the file before putting? yes no...i click yes (although i dont know what "putting" means) after i click yes another pop up comes and says: update copy on testing server? this will update the file on testing server. This might affect others working on the file. Proceed? yes no.....i click yes the next pop up appears and says: dependent files Include dependent files? yes no cancel... i click yes then the last and final pop up appears a red circle with a white x MACROMEDIA DREAMWEAVER MX 2004  while executing receive arguments in PIB_Dynamic.htm, the following javascript errors occured: at line 111 of file "c:\program files\macromedia\dreamweaver mx 2004\configuration\menues\mm\pib_dynamic.js" exception thrown in native function. then i have to click ok and it just goes back to the page i was working on. No preview nothing... what is wrong?and how can i fix this to just get back to working on dreamweaver how i normally do? is this because i downloaded php and wamp and then threw it away? i dont understand i want to cry, its so fustrating when you dont know anything. can someone please help me fix this :(
21. Hey guys I have downloaded php designer and wamp like mentioned in that tutorial. Is wamp considered my database or do i still need to download mysql? Also when Im finished making the poll in php designer can i bring it over to dreamweaver to design it?
22.
WAMP5 is a very good program and its what i use. If you want to install it and see how to configure it. Go to www.phpvideotutorials.com and look at the tuts. You will learn a lot from this site. ;)
I have just went to this site and it looks really amazing I want to thank you for giving me this link! I went through lesson 1 with the guy and I downloaded all the items. However one question....He said we wont be using dreamweaver. So does this mean I make all my pages in here(php designer 2006) then load them right to my ftp server?
23. hey everyone I am very very new to php and I cant grasp it at all. I am going to apologize now for the stupid questions... I am using dreamweaver mx2004 which is compatable with php correct? So Im working on a site that needs a voting poll and the voting poll needs to automatically place the top three winners in front.  Ive been googling php all night now and I cant get past  the introduction because one says "Before you can work with php its a good idea you install php on your computer if you havent installed it yet" another says  "If your server supports php then you do not need to do anything. Just create your .php files, put them in your web directory and the server will automatically parse them for you. There is no need to compile anything nor do you need to install any extra tools." Now I called the hosting company (register.com) and they said they support php. Does this mean that when making a webpage in dreamweaver I would open up a new php pg in the column create new? Then when making a vote button it will automatically tally up the votes when clicked on? Or do I still need to install php first? Any information or links would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!!
