i downloaded a folder with all the scripts. do the .php files get loaded to my sites directory or onto the new user database i created on MySQL?

yo i want to be able to have my members register and login to be able to view specific info and be able to post stuff. theres so much random information on this forum to search through. so if one of you has already written a thread or know of a good one could you please direct me?
