your sql query is running without errors (the var_dump($stmt); would be a false if there was any sort of permission/database/table problems.)
all indications are that for the database you are using, the query is matching zero rows. if you were putting an external value into the WHERE clause using a php variable, i would suspect you have some white-space as part of the value in your query and it isn't matching the actual data in the table, but that's not the case here. are you sure the $sql query you are showing in this thread is EXACTLY the same query (including all capitalization/letter-case) you ran manually?
about the only other thing that comes to mind is a php error is occurring (perhaps you have a mix of versions of drivers/extensions and the sqlsrv_fetch_array() statement is throwing a php error.) do you have php's error_reporting set to E_ALL and display_errors set to ON and you know for a fact that ALL php errors are being shown?
It must be a security issue than. I will look into. Its a direct copy and paste in the query and it pops up rows.. And E_ALL is on.. No errors.

as to the bool(false), have you read the documentation for sqlsrv_num_rows()?
you can however use sqlsrv_has_rows() to find if php thinks the query matched any rows or not.
as to why the query apparently didn't match any rows and your while(){} loop is being skipped, about the only thing that comes to mind is you have multiple database names and the database selected in your code above is not the same database you used when you directly ran the query.
I made sure it was the right directory.. I even did
$row = sqlsrv_fetch_array( $stmt, SQLSRV_FETCH_ASSOC);
var_dump($row);
and still comes up bool false..
Im thinking maybe a security to the tables?

So we have Sharepoint and I am trying to extract certain information from the sharepoint SQL and code a page to output that data.
This is what i have:
<?php $serverName = "127.0.0.1"; $connectionInfo = array("Database"=>"SharedServices_DB"); $conn = sqlsrv_connect($serverName, $connectionInfo); var_dump($conn); echo("<br />"); $sql = "SELECT TOP 100 Name = upf.PreferredName, Email = upf.Email, Modified = upf.LastUserUpdate, Property = pl.PropertyName, Value = upv.PropertyVal FROM dbo.UserProfile_Full upf, dbo.UserProfileValue upv, dbo.PropertyList pl WHERE upv.RecordID = upf.RecordID AND pl.PropertyID = upv.PropertyID ORDER BY Name ASC"; $stmt = sqlsrv_query($conn, $sql); if( $stmt === false ) { die( print_r( sqlsrv_errors(), true)); } var_dump($stmt); echo("<br />"); $row_count = sqlsrv_num_rows( $stmt ); var_dump($row_count); while( $row = sqlsrv_fetch_array( $stmt, SQLSRV_FETCH_ASSOC) ) { var_dump($row); //$second = $row['Department']; //if($first != $second){ //if($row['Name'] != NULL || $row['Email'] != NULL){ echo('<div id="department">'.$row['Name'].'</div><hr />'); //$first = $row['Department']; //} } sqlsrv_free_stmt( $stmt); ?>
I know for sure the $sql works I manually did the query on the sql server and it output all the data i needed.
But on the PHP site it is coming up blank not outputting anything.
Here are the results of the var_dump
resource(1) of type (SQL Server Connection)
resource(2) of type (SQL Server Statement)
bool(false) -
You need to do as the error message tells you. Go to http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=163712 and download then install the Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Native Client package. It is required for the sqlsrv driver to function.
Why would I do that when I am running server 2003?
-
I'm running:
Windows Server 2003
IIS 6.0
Microsoft SQL 2005
PHP 5.3.28
Everything that i have read says, "5.3 got rid of mssql and now uses sqlsrv"
so i added extension=php_sqlsrv_53_nts_vc9.dll to my php.ini (and yes it is in the ext folder)
and when i run the script
$serverName = "localhost\phonebook"; //serverName\instanceName // Since UID and PWD are not specified in the $connectionInfo array, // The connection will be attempted using Windows Authentication. $connectionInfo = array( "Database"=>"XXXXX", "UID"=>"XXXXX", "PWD"=>'XXXXXXXX'); $conn = sqlsrv_connect( $serverName, $connectionInfo); if( $conn ) { echo "Connection established.<br />"; }else{ echo "Connection could not be established.<br />"; die( print_r( sqlsrv_errors(), true)); }
i get
Connection could not be established.
Array ( [0] => Array ( [0] => IMSSP [sqlSTATE] => IMSSP [1] => -49=> -49 [2] => This extension requires either the Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Native Client (SP1 or later) or the Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Native Client ODBC Driver to communicate with SQL Server. What can i do to fix this? I assume use an older .dll?

Im use to PHP and doing a query seems similar but i need help with syntax.
I have an XML file that looks like this
<?xml version="1.0" standalone="yes"?><DataSet1 xmlns="http://tempuri.org/DataSet1.xsd"><switchIP><SwitchName>ES1UA1</SwitchName><IP>205.71.10.4</IP><Location>02-157-1-q</Location></switchIP><switchIP><SwitchName>ES2UA1</SwitchName><IP>205.71.10.5</IP><Location>02-157-1-q</Location></switchIP></DataSet1>and i am trying to do a query where it will search for "ES2UA1" and i get the data "IP" and "Location"I know i am some where in the ball park withDim doc = XDocument.Load(My.Application.Info.DirectoryPath & ".\xmlData.xml") Dim marker2 = From x In doc...<switchIP> _ Where x.SwitchName = "ES1UA1" _ Select x for each x as y msgbox(y.IP)

Thanks for trying to help but im trying to make the search bar INSIDE the input field.If you just want the image there for visual effect and not have it clickable, then you can just apply a background-image to the input element that is positioned on the right hand side.
If you want it clickable then you'd use two input's side-by-side in a div element. Apply a background to the div that looks like a form field, then style the inputs to not have any borders on them.

What if its more then 2 arrays

THANKS!
another question this doesnt really regard that, well kinda, but lets say i exploded it like so
$fullName = 'kyle cribbs'
$name = explode(' ', $fullName);
how would i do a 'like' SQL using an array?
like this?
SELECT * FROM `users` WHERE `name` LIKE '%$name%'
-
$name = 'Kyle Cribbs';
how to make this into an array like
$array[0] = Kyle;
$array[1] = Cribbs;
I know there is a php function that will do this but dont know what it is -.- haha

A left join takes table A (as your main table) then joins table B (as your secondary table) to make one final table as the result.
the "ON" construct is like a where, the difference is (for this example), it is taking a field from A and matching it with a field from table B to make one row, after all the matches are found it will give you your resulting table set.
the "WHERE" is performed before the "ON"
WOW that simple.. Thanks
-
so the table
___friend_____
--userID-- --friendID--
________________
_____________users______________
--ID -- --name-- --username-- --password--
_______________________________
a foreach within a foreach would work but im not sure how to save all data to an array then sort that array by name then echo, but thats not a very good way of doing it.. seems fairly slow..
I am pretty sure the way the user 'the_little_guy' said it would make sense.. Just never seen that done, and a little more info would help..

Listen whiteboy, I saw your other thread and you convey a sense of denseness. That IS what you need.
A few pieces of advice; when making a thread, ask a question. Your OP does a very poor job trying to describe your issue. You obviously didn't even attempt to try this yourself, a simple Google search would get you well on your way.
I did a google search.. I explain in the best way possible.. its a table that has a userid and a friendid.. Thats it... How would orderby order a users name that is on a completely different table. I have more knowledge in PHP then CSS thus i would know the 'orderby'. If you were the OP and i replied with that you would of said the same thing. I didnt any way disrespect you nor anyone else. Now premiso on the other hand is...
And i did do a google search.. Couldnt find what i was looking for, so posting was clearly a suitable reasoning.
and clearly you can see my frustration when posting on here im getting answers that aren't to my understanding, especially on the CSS thread.
