  1. Sorry if this is in the wrong forum. I have a dead simple project that I'm working on for a client using PHP. It involves two changes to their website. One is to create a page with a simple login (there will only be one user and the user information will never change) and once logged in a form with one text box and two commands, Post and Clear The other is on the main page where the text of that text box would either load at the top of the page if something had been posted, or not if it had been cleared. Clearly I could use SQL for this data, but that it seems like there should be a better way to store this data than creating a while database for one line of text and a username/password combo that will never change. It would also be nice if I didn't have to use PHP to grab the information on the main page, but rather a scripting language of some kind (probably java script) Any thoughts?
  2. Your site is very blue and the only site in your portfolio is very blue... Just saying.
  3. How can you justify saying dreamweaver is pointless? You may not have noticed, but there is a code view for programmers. The autocomplete and syntax highlighting work great for html, php, javascript, etc... There are many nice features that help cut down coding time. Download Notepad++ You get: - Syntax Highlighting - auto complete - FTP - Site Manager - 2 times as many syntax highlighting formats - Your own syntax highlighter - ABC Check - Macro - Plugins and A LOT MORE Yes!! I love notepad++ However, I also have the CS3 master collection... but I didn't get it through, how you say, legal means...
  4. Figured this was as good a place to introduce myself as any.  I'm Tom, I'm 21 years old and an actor living in Washington, DC.  I've been coding since 8th grade, and am teaching myself PHP/MySQL now.  Decided that my book was great but needed support from others and just general experience looking at the code to get a feel for it.  Found the forum and decided to try it out.  I do simple web design on the side, mostly for other actors and the student run theatre company on campus.  I'm looking to move on to more advanced programming and turn this in to a nice side business.  So yeah, those are pretty much my two big interests, theatre and computers.  I'm looking forward to joining this community and getting to know you all!
