So if no one has any ideas can you point me in the right direction? Should I be asking PHP gurus or imagemagick gurus? How could I find out who wrote the imagemagick module for php? Any idea what forums might I might hit for this type of thing? Thanks!

Hi, I'm attempting to create a polygon cutout of an image. I've figured out how to do it using imagemagick from the command line (convert). Now I want to put this logic into PHP using the Imagick library but I am getting some unexpected results -- namely, I always get a black background instead of a transparent background. I could call the convert commands directly using exec or something similar, but I'd much rather use the Imagick lib for better error handling and efficiency. http://jckdnk.pastebin.com/m3e325705 - some sample php code along with the corresponding convert commands.
