  1. Hello everyone, I have joined this forum just now hoping to find some help for my problem. I have a mysql query in my php file which i output to an array of html divs. The code is as follows: $result = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM numserved WHERE status = 'on'") or die(mysql_error()); while($row = mysql_fetch_array($result)) { ?> <div style="font-size:<?php echo $fontsize; ?>pt;" valign="middle" class="numberz" align="center" > <?php echo $row['number']; ?></div><?php } ?> I wanted to know if anyone could help me write the code to make this query be updated every 3 seconds without reloading the whole page. I know it is done by Ajax and tried to implement the Jquery solution , but I wasnt able to apply it. Anyone would be so kind to tell me the exact code i need and where to place it? Thank you
  2. How do you solve an error where a soft refresh of data causes an accordion to fail, but on a hard refresh it works just fine? example: $(function() { $( "#accordion" ).accordion({ collapsible: true, active: false, heightStyle: "content" }); console.log('ran'); });
  3. Hi Peeps So basically im creating a "customer page" i have 2 tabs, 1 is customer info which is the primary and the invoicing tab I have a date picker in the invoicing tab which im hoping will populate a table below. I tried having the form post to php but this resets the page which then goes to the customer info tab so im guessing this will have to be done with jquery and ajax. could someone please point me in the right direction to do this? here is the current page for better explanation: All help is greatly appreciated in advance Mooseh

  5. Hi, I am building a website using PHP. By default the SESSION is kept active for 24(1440 seconds) minutes of inactivity. What i want is to refresh the SESSION as soon as the user interacts with the website (movement of the mouse, click on links inside the website, etc.) The way i am trying to refresh the session is by calling PHP script named refreshSession.php with AJAX as follow: $.ajax({ cache: false, type: "GET", url: "refreshSession.php" }); and the PHP script goes as follow: refreshSession.php <?php session_start(); echo 'test'; ?> But the session does not refresh. The only way to refresh the session is to reload the page. What am i doing wrong? Any suggestions? Regards, Christos

  8. Below is my code that is suppose to insert and show records from database using ajax. Retrieving the records from the database works. However it won't insert a record. I do not get any errors. The page simply refreshes when I hit submit button. Can you see what might be wrong in my code? index.php <script> $(document).ready(function(){ function showComment(){ $.ajax({ type:"post", url:"process.php", data:"action=showcomment", success:function(data){ $(".wrapper").html(data); } }); } showComment(); $("#submit").click(function(){ var name=$("#name").val(); var message=$("#details").val(); $.ajax({ type:"post", url:"process.php", data:"name="+name+"&details="+message+"&action=addcomment", success:function(data){ showComment(); } }); }); }); </script> $id = $_GET['id']; $title = $_GET['title']; $_SESSION['id'] = $id; $_SESSION['title'] = $title; <div class="wrapper"></div> <form action="" method="post" enctype="multipart/form-data"> <div class="newfield"> <label for="title">Name <span class="highlight">*</span></label> <input id="name" type="text" name="name"> </div> <div class="newfield"> <label for="details">Details <span class="highlight">*</span></label> <textarea id="details" name="details""></textarea> </div> <input type="submit" name="submit" id="submit" value="Submit Tale"> </form> process.php <?php require_once '/core/init.php'; $id = $_SESSION['id']; $action = $_POST['action']; if($action == 'showcomment') { try { $get = $db->prepare("SELECT * FROM sub_posts WHERE id = :id"); $get->bindParam('id', $id); $get->execute(); $getStmt = $get->fetchAll(PDO::FETCH_ASSOC); if(count($getStmt) > 0) { foreach($getStmt as $row) { $new_name = $row['name']; $new_details = $row['details']; ?> <ul> <li> <?php echo $new_name; ?> </li> <li> <?php echo $new_details; ?> </li> </ul> <?php } } else { // no records found. } } catch(Exception $e) { die($e->getMessage()); } } else if($action == 'addcomment') { $name = $_GET['name']; $details = $_GET['details']; try { $insert = $db->prepare("INSERT INTO sub_posts(id, name, details) VALUES(:id, :name, :details)"); $insert->bindParam('id', $id); $insert->bindParam('name', $name); $insert->bindParam('details', $details); $insert->execute(); if($insert == false){ echo 'record could not be inserted.'; } else { echo 'record has been inserted.'; } } catch(Exception $e) { die($e->getMessage()); } } else { echo 'no results.'; }
  9. Here's the code that deals with the client side: search.php <?php //testing if data is sent ok echo "<h1>Hello</h1><br>" . $_GET['search']; ?> This is the link I get after sending foo. http://www.family-line.dx.am/Community/index.php?&search=foo Is that mean it was sent, but I'm not processing it correctly? I'm new to the whole AJAX thing.
  10. So here's the situation. 1. I retrive records form mysql database. WORKS. 2. Within each record, I load a "form" via on click .button. WORKS. 3. The form is basically a way for a User to send a message to that record specifically. WORKS That process works. What doesn't work is that every time I submit a form to the database, it will not insert the "message" field text(appears empty) and the "record_id" will insert but it'll be same for all records inserted, no matter how many different records forms I submit. Other data like "message-to" and "message-by" insert fine. Here is the full page setup. Also, session_start(); is in the init.php <?php require_once 'core/init.php'; $user = new User(); $mainUserid = escape($user->data()->user_id); ?> <!DOCTYPE HTML> <html lang="en"> <head> <meta charset="UTF-8"> <title><?php echo $title; ?></title> <meta name="description" content="<?php echo $description; ?>"> <meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1.0, minimum-scale=1.0, maximum-scale=1.0, user-scalable=no"> <link rel="stylesheet" href="css/style.css" media="screen"> </head> <body> $getRecord = $db->prepare("SELECT records.*, users.* FROM records LEFT JOIN users ON records.user_id = users.user_id ORDER BY record_id DESC LIMIT 10"); $getRecord->execute(); $resultRecord = $getRecord->fetchAll(PDO::FETCH_ASSOC); if(count($resultRecord) < 1) { $error = '0 records found.'; } else { foreach($resultRecord as $row) { $record_id = escape(intval($row['record_id'])); $user_id = escape(intval($row['user_id'])); $username = escape($row['full_name']); $title = escape($row['title']); $details = escape($row['details']); $_SESSION['record-id'] = $record_id; $_SESSION['message-to'] = $user_id; $_SESSION['message-by'] = $mainUserid; $message = Input::get('message'); // HTTP method POST or GET $_SESSION['message'] = $message; ?> <div class="record"> <h1><?php echo $title; ?></h1> <p><?php echo $details; ?></p> <p><?php echo $user_id; ?></p> <button class="button">send message</button> <!-- this form loads through on click(.button) function and is located in "ajax/form.php" --> <form class="new-form"> <textarea name="message" class="message">Enter message</textarea> <input type="button" name="submit" class="form-submit" value="Send Message"> </form> </div> <?php } } <!-- js scripts below --> <script src="js/jquery-1.11.0.min.js"></script> <script> $(document).ready(function(){ $(".button").click(function(){ $(this).parent().load("ajax/form.php"); }); }); </script> <script> $(document).on('click','.form-submit',function() { if($(".message").val()==='') { alert("Please write a message."); return false; } $(".form-submit").hide(); //hide submit button var myData = 'message='+ $(".message").val(); //build a post data structure jQuery.ajax({ type: "POST", // HTTP method POST or GET url: "process.php", //Where to make Ajax calls dataType:"text", // Data type, HTML, json etc. data:myData, //Form variables success:function(response){ $(".message").val(''); //empty text field on successful $(".form-submit").show(); //show submit button }, error:function (xhr, ajaxOptions, thrownError){ $(".form-submit").show(); //show submit button alert(thrownError); } }); }); </script> </body> </html> here is process.php <?php require_once 'core/init.php'; $session_record_id = $_SESSION['record-id']; $session_message_to = $_SESSION['message-to']; $session_message_by = $_SESSION['message-by']; $session_message = $_SESSION['message']; $insertMssg = $db->prepare("INSERT INTO sub_records(record_id, message_to, message_by, message, bid_posted) VALUES(:record_id, :message_to, :message_by, :message)"); $insertMssg->bindParam(':record_id', $session_record_id); $insertMssg->bindParam(':message_to', $session_message_to); $insertMssg->bindParam(':message_by', $session_message_by); $insertMssg->bindParam(':message', $session_message); $resultInsert = $insertMssg->execute(); if($resultInsert == false) { $error = 'Your message could not be inserted.'; } else { $success = 'Your message has been added.'; } ?> <div class="success"><?php echo $success; ?></div> <div class="error"><?php echo $error; ?></div>

Everything seemed to be going ok, till i realised that its not actually updating the database, there are no error messages, you have to refresh the page to see it hasn't worked. I'm at a loss as to why was hoping someone might be able to point me in the right direction. thanks, MsKazza tableedit.php table_edit_ajax.php

In my shopping cart i want an alert message when the maximum number of 5 for the item has been reached or ask them to delete the item if the press - when the item quantity is at 1. i have it working in php: //add to quantity of item if (isset($_POST['itemadd'])){ $additem = $_POST['additem']; $sqladd = "SELECT quantity FROM orders WHERE id = '$additem'"; $query_add = mysqli_query($db_conx, $sqladd); while($row = mysqli_fetch_array($query_add, MYSQLI_ASSOC)){ $itemqty = $row['quantity']; if ($itemqty < 5){ $addqty = $itemqty + 1; $adding = "UPDATE orders SET quantity = '$addqty' WHERE id = '$additem'"; $add_query = mysqli_query($db_conx, $adding); header('Location: http://www.quichlicious.co.uk/cart.php'); //print $additem; exit(); } else { $usemes = "You have reached maximum quantity"; } } But rather than display the message in a div i would like a javascript alert box to pop up, i tried the following code: <script type="text/javascript"> function CheckQtyPlus(){ var qty = '<?php echo $qty; ?>'; alert("message here"+qty); } </script> but i get the same quantity number for every item in the cart, i had this error with the php update but i got round that by querying sql to give me the quantity of an item by the items id. can the same thing be done in javascript / ajax? $qty by the way is referenced earlier in the script to get information for the cart table to display items. thanks Michael
  13. This should all be working but I think I might be overlooking something. Problem 1. I am using ajax to process a form. I don't think the problem is with ajax(works with other queries), but rather with php. Here is my simple query. $stmt = $db->prepare("SELECT * FROM records WHERE request_by = :request_by, request_to = :request_to AND session = :session"); $stmt->bindParam(':request_by', $byUserid); $stmt->bindParam(':request_to', $toUserid); $stmt->bindValue(':session', 1); $stmt->execute(); $result = $stmt->fetchAll(PDO::FETCH_ASSOC); if(count($result) > 0) { $success = 'This was successful.'; } else { $error = 'There was a problem.'; } This above query gives me this error. Fatal error: Uncaught exception 'PDOException' with message 'SQLSTATE[42000]: Syntax error or access violation: 1064 You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ' request_to = '7' AND session = '1'' at line 1 Problem 2. Say the main page is "index.php" with submit form and I am using ajax via url: process.php. Well on "index.php" page, I have foreach loop that gets me a "$toUserid" for each record. I would like to use that "$toUserid" in "process.php" page. I tried setting it as a session but still it won't give me that exact userid. It'll give me the same userid as the user I am currently logged in. What exactly I am doing wrong and how I can i fix it?
  14. All I am trying to do is add a record on a page without the page refreshing. For that ajax is used. Here is the code. It does not add the record to mysql table. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong? record.php <!DOCTYPE HTML> <html lang="en"> <head> <script type="text/javascript" src="js/jquery-1.11.0.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" > $(function() { $(".submit_button").click(function() { var textcontent = $("#content").val(); var name = $("#name").val(); var dataString = 'content='+ textcontent + '&name='+name; if(textcontent=='') { alert("Enter some text.."); $("#content").focus(); } else { $("#flash").show(); $("#flash").fadeIn(400).html('<span class="load">Loading..</span>'); $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "action.php", data: dataString, cache: true, success: function(html){ $("#show").after(html); document.getElementById('content').value=''; $("#flash").hide(); $("#content").focus(); } }); } return false; }); }); </script> </head> <body> <?php $record_id = $_GET['id']; // getting ID of current page record ?> <form action="" method="post" enctype="multipart/form-data"> <div class="field"> <label for="title">Name *</label> <input type="text" name="name" id="name" value="" maxlength="20" placeholder="Your name"> </div> <div class="field"> <label for="content">content *</label> <textarea id="content" name="content" maxlength="500" placeholder="Details..."></textarea> </div> <input type="submit" name="submit" value="submit" class="submit_button"> </form> <div id="flash"></div> <div id="show"></div> </body> </html> action.php if(isset($_POST['submit'])) { if(empty($_POST['name']) || empty($_POST['content'])) { $error = 'Please fill in the required fields!'; } else { try { $name = trim($_POST['name']); $content = trim($_POST['content']); $stmt = $db->prepare("INSERT INTO records(record_id, name, content) VALUES(:recordid, :name, :content"); $stmt->execute(array( 'recordid' => $record_id, 'name' => $name, 'content' => $content )); if(!$stmt){ $error = 'Please fill in the required fields.'; } else { $success = 'Your post has been submitted.'; } } catch(Exception $e) { die($e->getMessage()); } } }
  15. New to Ajax, and BAD with the scripting below, bare with me. Looking to select a drop down and push all values to the query string at the end. Works perfectly with ONE select element. I just have no idea how to separate the variables. The code below is putting whatever form element I change into the first "str" variable. if possible if one of the elements below is changed, all three of variables the data is placed in the query string in the correct place if that makes sense. Form <form> <table style="width:100%"> <tr> <td style="width:85px;"> Project </td> <td style="text-align:right;"> <select name="fm_project" class="allform_select" onchange="showdata(this.value)"> <option value="2" >ProjectA</option> <option value="1" >ProjectB</option> <option value="3" >ProjectC</option> <option value="0" SELECTED>Select One</option> </select> </td> </tr> <tr> <td style="width:85px;"> Module </td> <td style="text-align:right;"> <select name="fm_module" class="allform_select" onchange="showdata(this.value)"> <option value="194" >B</option> <option value="195" >C</option> <option value="197" >D</option> <option value="196" >E</option> <option value="0" SELECTED>Select One</option></td> </select> </tr> <tr> <td style="width:85px;"> Stage </td> <td style="text-align:right;"> <select name="fm_stage" class="allform_select" onchange="showdata(this.value)"> <option value="201" >BLUE</option> <option value="202" >GREEN</option> <option value="203" >RED</option> <option value="0" SELECTED>Select One</option> </select> </td> </tr> </table> </form> Script <script> function showdata(str, stra, strb) { var xhttp; if (str == "") { document.getElementById("graph_field").innerHTML = ""; return; } if (stra == "") { document.getElementById("graph_field").innerHTML = ""; return; } if (strb == "") { document.getElementById("graph_field").innerHTML = ""; return; } xhttp = new XMLHttpRequest(); xhttp.onreadystatechange = function() { if (this.readyState == 4 && this.status == 200) { document.getElementById("graph_field").innerHTML = this.responseText; } }; xhttp.open("GET", "printme.php?app=projects&ala=csajax&fm_project="+str+"&fm_module="+stra+"&fm_stage="+strb, true); xhttp.send(); } </script>
  16. For eg, say I am retreiving 3 records from database and they look like this. <div class="record"> <h1>Record title 1</h1> <p>Record description</p> <button class="button">send message</button> </div> <div class="record"> <h1>Record title 2</h1> <p>Record description</p> <button class="button">send message</button> </div> <div class="record"> <h1>Record title 3</h1> <p>Record description</p> <button class="button">send message</button> </div> and this is my ajax to load the form. <script> $(document).ready(function(){ $(".button").click(function(){ $(".record").load("form.php .new-form"); }); }); </script> the form looks like this. <form class="new-form"> <textarea name="message" class="message"></textarea> <input type="button" name="submit" class="form-submit" value="Send Message"> </form> That all works. The only problem with that is, it loads the form in EACH record. How can I make it so that the form only loads to the div record from which I am calling from?
  17. I've wrote code for sending array to another php file with mysql, everything works, but but i can't add CHANGE function to my code, to make code react on changes (checked/uchecked checkbox) <div id="checkboxes"> <input id="chkbx_0" type="checkbox" name="first" checked="checked" />Option 1 <input id="chkbx_1" type="checkbox" name=second" />Option 2 <input id="chkbx_2" type="checkbox" name="third" />Option 3 <input id="chkbx_3" type="checkbox" name="fourth" checked="checked" />Option 4 </div> <script> $(document).ready(function () { // var name = []; $('#checkboxes input:checked').each(function() { name.push($(this).attr('name')); }).get(); // $.post('load.php', {name:name[1]}, function(data){ $('#name-data').html(data); }); // }); </script>

  19. Hello I have this Ajax code witch working good, but I'm not really good at javascript I just started 1 month ago, so I'm not sure if this code is perfect or not, or is there any way to improve this AJAX code. HTML/AJAX <input type="text" id="text_1" /> <button name="js_btn_func" id="js_btn_func" onclick="ajax()" > Execute JavaScript / AJAX Function </button> <div id="success_2"></div> <div id="result_2"></div> <div id="error_2"></div> <script> try { var results_area_2 = document.getElementById("result_2"); var error_area_2 = document.getElementById("error_2"); var success_area_2 = document.getElementById("success_2"); function ajax(str) { var xhttp; var str = document.getElementById("text_1").value; if (str == "") { document.getElementById("result_2").innerHTML = ""; return; } xhttp = new XMLHttpRequest(); xhttp.onreadystatechange = function() { if (xhttp.readyState == 4 && xhttp.status == 200) { results_area_2.innerHTML = xhttp.responseText; success_area_2.innerHTML = ('Success: Script is <b>ON</b>'); } } xhttp.open("POST", "action.php?name="+str, true); xhttp.send(); } } catch(e){ alert('An error has occurred: '+e.message) error_area_2.innerHTML = ('Error: Script is <b>OFF</b>'); } </script> PHP <?php $random_query = mt_rand(1, 9999); if (isset($_REQUEST["name"])){ $q = $_REQUEST["name"]; echo "Hello <b>$q</b>! random number : $random_query "; } ?> Thanks in advance.
  20. So I have a simple script that adds and returns mysql data without refreshing the page. Everything works as it should. The only issue that I've noticed is that if I login as a user and insert a record(text) the FIRST time, it won't return that record in the row below. Not until I refresh the page. Now if I delete that record and insert a new record, it will then automatically return the record without the page refresh, as it should. Can you tell me why this is happening? Here is my js code. <script> $(document).ready(function(){ var recordId = $("#record-id").val(); function showRecord(){ $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "bid-actions.php", data: "recordId="+recordId+"&action=showRecord", success:function(data){ $(".show-records").html(data); } }); } showRecord(); $(document).on('click','#record-submit',function() { var message = $("#message").val(); var recordId = $("#record-id").val(); $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "bid-actions.php", data: "message="+message+"&recordId="+recordId+"&action=insertRecord", success:function(data){ showRecord(); $("#message").val(''); } }); }); }); </script> Html code. <div id="record-submit-form"> <input type="hidden" id="record-id" value="<?php echo $record_id; ?>"> <textarea id="message"></textarea> <input type="button" id="record-submit" value="Submit"> </div> <div class="show-records"> </div>

  22. Hi, I'm a novice and have the below code in a Wordpress theme. I'm trying to get the form to submit automatically so it logs an entry into the MySql db as though the person clicked the heart icon (submit). Ideally I subsequently want to hide the heart icon so on load maybe after 3 seconds the entry is auto fired to the MySql DB. I have got as far as the manual click adding the entry, however can't get to to auto submit, any gel would be appreciated. Thank you in advance. ////PHP Form///// <form class="ajax-form" action="<?php echo AJAX_URL; ?>" method="POST"> <?php if(ThemexUser::islastviewed(ThemexUser::$data['active_user']['ID'])) { ?> <a href="#" title="<?php _e('Remove from lastviewed', 'lovestory'); ?>" data-title="<?php _e('Add to Last Viewed', 'lovestory'); ?>" class="icon-heart submit-button current"></a> <input type="hidden" class="toggle" name="user_action" value="remove_lastviewed" data-value="add_lastviewed" /> <?php } else { ?> <a href="#" title="<?php _e('Add to Last Viewed', 'lovestory'); ?>" data-title="<?php _e('Remove from Last Viewed', 'lovestory'); ?>" class="icon-heart submit-button"></a> <input type="hidden" class="toggle" name="user_action" value="add_lastviewed" data-value="remove_lastviewed" /> <?php } ?> <input type="hidden" name="user_lastviewed" value="<?php echo ThemexUser::$data['active_user']['ID']; ?>" /> <input type="hidden" class="nonce" value="<?php echo wp_create_nonce(THEMEX_PREFIX.'nonce'); ?>" /> <input type="hidden" class="action" value="<?php echo THEMEX_PREFIX; ?>update_user" /> </form> ////Ajax///// //Elements var themeElements = { ajaxForm: '.ajax-form', } //AJAX Form $(themeElements.ajaxForm).each(function() { var form=$(this); form.submit(function() { var message=form.find('.message'), loader=form.find('.loader'), toggle=form.find('.toggle'), button=form.find(themeElements.submitButton), title=form.find(themeElements.submitButton).data('title'); var data={ action: form.find('.action').val(), nonce: form.find('.nonce').val(), data: form.serialize() } loader.show(); button.addClass('disabled').toggleClass('current'); if(!message.hasClass('static')) { message.slideUp(300, function() { $(themeElements.colorboxLink).colorbox.resize(); }); } jQuery.post(form.attr('action'), data, function(response) { if(jQuery('.redirect', response).length) { if(jQuery('.redirect', response).attr('href')) { window.location.href=jQuery('.redirect',response).attr('href'); } else { window.location.reload(); } message.remove(); } if(title) { button.data('title', button.attr('title')); button.attr('title', title); } toggle.each(function() { var value=toggle.val(); toggle.val(toggle.data('value')); toggle.data('value', value); }); loader.hide(); button.removeClass('disabled'); if(response!='' && response!='0' && response!='-1') { if(message.hasClass('popup')) { $.colorbox({html:'<div class="popup">'+response+'</div>'}); } else if(message.hasClass('static')) { message.append(response); } else { message.html(response).slideDown(300, function() { $(themeElements.colorboxLink).colorbox.resize(); }); } } form.find('.temporary').val(''); form.find('.scroll').each(function() { $(this).scrollTop($(this)[0].scrollHeight); }); }); return false; }); }); Thank you
  23. Hi all ! In my previous question asked today I said that I am using dropdown lists for selecting country, state, city and pin. The initial lists are blank and use the selection of country to trigger the loading of states and choosing a state triggers the loading of cities and so I am using ajax for this purpose - more specifically the $ajax() function of jquery. In a normal call to a php page, the integrity is maintained via sessions, and csrf is prevented via tokens embedded in the form, but how do I take care of these when data is being passed through the ajax call ? Any other security measures that need to be looked into while using this method or special security mechanisms that I need to apply? I would of-course check the data received this way, by using all the normal data validation methods on the server side. Thanks all !

If i remove the where statement it runs and displays the table. Kindly assist. Azhar
  25. i'm trying to make a notification tab work but do not seem to get it right. The dropdown is working fine but the ajax call to newfriends.php is not working right, when viewed with firebug there are no results to be seen in the dropdown.Quite confusing.
