  1. I want to create a drop down menu that display main categories then all child categories with all of their sub child list like the one shown in below pic I am using a table named categories which uses hierarchical system like parent id, right id, left id and level looks like in below pic here is my categoriesTest.php <?php include 'common.php'; $query = "SELECT cat_id, parent_id, cat_name FROM " .$DBPrefix. "categories ORDER BY cat_name"; $res = mysql_query($query); $system->check_mysql($res, $query, __LINE__, __FILE__); $items = mysql_fetch_assoc($res); $html = ''; $parent = 0; $parent_stack = array(); // $items contains the results of the SQL query $children = array(); foreach ( $items as $item ) $children[$items['parent_id']][] = $item; while ( $option = each( $children[$parent] ) ) { if ( !empty( $option ) ) { // 1) The item contains children: // store current parent in the stack, and update current parent if ( !empty( $children[$option['value']['id']] ) ) { $html .= '<li>' . $option['value']['title'] . '</li>'; $html .= '<ul>'; array_push( $parent_stack, $parent ); $parent = $option['value']['id']; } // 2) The item does not contain children else $html .= '<li>' . $option['value']['title'] . '</li>'; } // 3) Current parent has no more children: // jump back to the previous menu level else { $html .= '</ul>'; $parent = array_pop( $parent_stack ); } } // At this point, the HTML is already built echo $html; ?> the above code not working and am not sure it is the correct way. can anyone help me out?? Thanks
  2. Hello everyone. It seems like my code is not working properly. i have tried both mysqli and PDO to insert data into database,but it only takes me back to same page again,without doing nothing in the database (been checking this a few times to be sure). both php and html code are on the same page. Could anyone point me to the missing link in my code? here's my code (HTML & PHP) : <form action="" id="SignUpForm" autocomplete="on" style="display:none" method="post"> <!-- Form is Hidden until the user is clicking the "Sign Up" button. --> <input type="hidden" name="Language" value="English"> Fill up the following fields:<br><br> First name:<input type="text" name="fname" required><br><br> Last name: <input type="text" name="lname" required><br><br> Age: <input type="number" name="UserAge" min="1" max="120" required><br><br> Gender: <input type="radio" name="Gender" value="male">Male<br> <input type="radio" name="Gender" value="Female">Female<br> E-mail Address: <input type="email" name="email" autocomplete="off" required><br><br> Pick your new password: <input type="password" maxlength=”40” name="Password" required pattern="(?=.*\d)(?=.*[a-z])(?=.*[A-Z]).{6,40}"> Add password strength checker here.<br><br> <!-- Uses regular expression. --> Confirm Password: <input type="password" maxlength=”40” name="ConfirmPassword" required pattern="(?=.*\d)(?=.*[a-z])(?=.*[A-Z]).{6,40}"><br><br> <!-- A better way is to use onblur to check user's type match. --> <hr> <script> (function(){ $("#submit").click(function(){ $(".error").hide(); //Bind an event handler to the "error" JavaScript event. var hasError = false; var passwordVal = $("#Password").val(); var checkVal = $("#ConfirmPassword").val(); if (passwordVal == '') { $("#Password").after('<span class="error">Please enter a password.</span>'); hasError = true; } else if (checkVal == '') { $("#ConfirmPassword").after('<span class="error">Please re-enter your password.</span>'); hasError = true; } else if (passwordVal != checkVal ) { $("#ConfirmPassword").after('<span class="error">Passwords do not match.</span>'); hasError = true; } if(hasError == true) {return false;} }); }); </script> <script> //The validationMessage property of a DOM node contains the message the browser displays to the user when a node's validity is checked and fails. document.getElementById("name").validationMessage; document.getElementById("lname").validationMessage; document.getElementById("UserAge").validationMessage; document.getElementById("Gender").validationMessage; document.getElementById("email").validationMessage; document.getElementById("Password").validationMessage; document.getElementById("ConfirmPassword").validationMessage; </script> Now let's go through your prefered food. 3. This question has been asked almost exactly: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/20982768/wrap-multi-column-div-around-image I apologize for asking here but the question is almost a year old, and I can't add a comment to it anyways. This is killing me. I'm trying to achieve the same thing only with 3 columns. I have to match a printed publication with no other options. I know the width of images, but the text will always be different lengths. Width of an image will always be 1 or 2 columns, height will always be different. Sometimes there is more than one image lined up vertically. Same widths, different heights. Open up any magazine and you will see what I am talking about. Column span seems to be all or 1, and I am uncomfortable with it's browser support. I'd also have to perfectly position it inside the content text, and because I want to automate things this isn't an option. Am I incorrect? View my current work here: http://www.cswea.org/mag_templates/ The code looks like this: <div style="margin-left:300px;margin-right:300px;"> <div style="margin-left:10px;margin-bottom:10px;display:inline-block;float:right;background-color:blue;width:600px;height:500px;"></div> <div style="display:inline-block;float:left;-webkit-column-count: 3;-moz-column-count: 3;column-count: 3;-webkit-column-gap: 20px;-moz-column-gap: 20px;column-gap: 20px;-webkit-column-rule: 1px outset grey;-moz-column-rule: 1px outset grey;column-rule: 1px outset grey;"> <?php include("content.php"); ?> </div> </div> content.php is 4 P tags with the garbage text inside. As you see, it matches what the OP in the first link is trying to do. If I could post a follow up question/comment that isn't an answer I'd post there. If I remove the columns, the text wraps the way I want it to but it won't fly. Absolutely MUST be 3 columns wrapped around these images and I feel like I'm against a wall here. All my research and googling, or following links from that stack overflow post tells me this isn't possible. I like to believe that in the world of html and css, anything is possible. My other option is a non column divided div, but that means I would have to develop an intelligent way to divide the text up into each div so it looks natural like a magazine article. content.php will always be a list of paragraph tags filled with any length of text so getting the desired result is no simple task. Any tips tricks or hints? Is there somewhere that I can submit the need for this to those involved with what is in the next versions of CSS or HTML? I'm sure if there is that many have already submitted so maybe one more person will help? Is there an HTML5 solution I'm missing? Thank you so much for taking the time to read this! [EDIT] The PDF of the magazine I am working with is here: http://www.cswea.org/magazine/CS_Fall2014_RICH.pdf On page 24-27, the plant profile article, this is what I need to reproduce. [EDIT]

  6. Hello, I'm having a bit of trouble interpolating Bootstrap HTML from database rows. It's coming out kind of right, but I have font-awesome flags popping up everywhere, and my footer doesn't stretch the entire screen. Kind of like a div isn't being closed. I'd appreciate any help offered. Every three items is a row. There are three columns per row. PHP CODE foreach($retrievedListings as $key => $val) { if($key === 0) { echo '<div class="row"> <div class="col-lg-4"> <div class="column-1"> <h4 style="color:darkblue;"><i style="color:yellow;" class="fa fa-star"></i> '.htmlentities($retrievedListings[$key]['title']).'</h4> <p>By <strong>'.$retrievedListings[$key]['username'].'</strong><br/> '.htmlentities($retrievedListings[$key]['intro']).'</p> <p class="word"><i class="fa fa-flag flag-button"></i>'; $tagsArr = explode(',', $retrievedListings[$key]['tags']); foreach($tagsArr as $tag) { echo '<span class="label label-default label-buffer"><a>'.htmlentities($tag).'</a></span>'; } echo '</p> </div> </div>'; }elseif($key % 3 != 0) { echo '<div class="col-lg-4"> <div class="column-1"> <h4 style="color:darkblue;"><i style="color:yellow;" class="fa fa-star"></i> '.htmlentities($retrievedListings[$key]['title']).'</h4> <p>By <strong>'.$retrievedListings[$key]['username'].'</strong><br/> '.$retrievedListings[$key]['intro'].'</p> <p class="word"><i class="fa fa-flag flag-button">'; $tagsArr = explode(',', $retrievedListings[$key]['tags']); foreach($tagsArr as $tag) { echo '<span class="label label-default label-buffer"><a>'.htmlentities($tag).'</a></span>'; } echo '</p> </div> </div>'; }else{ echo '</div> <div class="row"> <div class="col-lg-4"> <div class="column-1"> <h4>'.htmlentities($retrievedListings[$key]['title']).'</h4> <p>By <strong>'.$retrievedListings[$key]['username'].'</strong> <br/> '.htmlentities($retrievedListings[$key]['intro']).'</p> <p class="word"><strong>Tags :</strong> <span>One,Two,Three</span></p> </div> </div>'; } } What I'm trying to interpolate: <div class="row"> <div class="col-lg-4"> <div class="column-1"> <h4 style="color:darkblue;"><i style="color:yellow;" class="fa fa-star"></i> Lorem Ipsum</h4> <p>By <strong>Ipsum is simply</strong><br/> dummy text of the printing and typesetting industry.   7. For eg. I have a page with a query that retrives records from the database and I want to have options of filtering out the shown records by date, time, likes, views..etc; how would I go about doing that? The way I am thinking is having a html form with those filter inputs and using a relative query based on the filter selection to retrive the results. What you think?
  8. Hi I want to echo out something when I post the value of a radio button and this value matches the same name of a html file. How can I formulate my code to achieve that? What I have so far: <?php if (isset($_POST['submitradio'])) { $selected_dir = $_POST['radio1']; echo substr($selected_dir, 0, -4); echo '<img src="'.$selected_dir.'" />'; } ?> So far I get for example the name of the image(order.gif) and the image order. gif. What I now want is to formulate my code so that I can say if I have an image called "order.gif" and a file called "order.html" that I can then echo out some thing. I don't want to actually name the image or the html file. I just want to say if I have two different file types that start with the same name then I can echo out what ever. How can I do that?
  9. Hi, I am new to this forum and I came here because I am a website owner that is a novice in php coding and I want to adjust the coding my web designer created, because I want to update my auto email when members sign up to my site. I found my signup.php page and found the secton where the contents of the auto email are housed but I have no way (or atleast I don't know the way) to test my coding adjustments without going through the signup process on my site and I don't want to do that multiple times just to check code, so I decided to see if I could ask the questions here and maybe someone can "eyeball" my coding adjustments and ensure that they work OR maybe you can instruct me how I can test my code. Keep in mind, this is not an actual page on my site, it's the auto email when users signup. It's sent from my signup.php page once the signup button is "clicked". 1. I'll provide a snippet of the code my webdesigner setup and that should work fine 2. I'll provide my changes to the email contents (basically text, image and html links). Hopefully there is someone who can assist. Thanks A BILLION!!! -Ivan Below is the original code from my webmaster, shouldn't be anything wrong with this code. 10. I apologize in advance if this has already been covered before, but I'm extremely new to php and a lot of this is over my head... That being said, I've created a form, and I can't for the life of me get it to send like it's supposed to. I've scoured ever forum and tutorial I can think of, and have tried every possible code combination I can think of, but nothing seems to be help. Whenever I hit send on the website, I get a redirect that just says "Forbidden". Nothing else. I'm not sure what information I should provide for forum members to be able to help me, but the website/page I'm having issues with is: http://www.joessportscafe.com/feedback . If you go into the source code, the php starts on line 239 and ends on 519. I can provide whatever more information you need if anyone would be awesome enough to help me. I would REALLY appreciate it.
  11. If you try this link https://jsfiddle.net/u4bxz74c/10/. Later the result will be like this PART 1 <p id="posttextareadisplay"> <p class="ENGLISH">This is a samplasde textssss</p> <p class="ENGLISH"><b>فَإِذَا جَلَسْتَ فِي وَسَطِ الصلَاةِ فَاطْمَئِن، وَافْتَرِشْ فَخِذَكَ الْيُسْرَى ثُم تَشَهدْ</b></p> </p> PART 2 <p id="posttextareadisplay"> <p class="ENGLISH">This is a samplasde textssss <b>فَإِذَا جَلَسْتَ فِي وَسَطِ الصلَاةِ فَاطْمَئِن، وَافْتَرِشْ فَخِذَكَ الْيُسْرَى ثُم تَشَهدْ</b></p> </p> Question PART 1 : If you see the code below, all paragraphs or <p> are class="ENGLISH". How to make it into a paragraph or <p> class="ENGLISH" to be class="ARAB", if the writing in a paragraph is Arabic? But if the writing is not Arabic, so the paragraph of class="ENGLISH" PART 1 <p id="posttextareadisplay"> <p class="ENGLISH">This is a samplasde textssss</p> <p class="ENGLISH"><b>فَإِذَا جَلَسْتَ فِي وَسَطِ الصلَاةِ فَاطْمَئِن، وَافْتَرِشْ فَخِذَكَ الْيُسْرَى ثُم تَشَهدْ</b></p> </p> ***** I WANT TO BE LIKE THIS ******* <p id="posttextareadisplay"> <p class="ENGLISH">This is a samplasde textssss</p> <p class="ARAB"><b>فَإِذَا جَلَسْتَ فِي وَسَطِ الصلَاةِ فَاطْمَئِن، وَافْتَرِشْ فَخِذَكَ الْيُسْرَى ثُم تَشَهدْ</b></p> </p> Question PART 2 : But if the Arabic joins with plain writing or regular fonts. So paragraph or <p> remain class="ENGLISH" Like this <p class="ENGLISH"> This is a sa <b> لْيُسْرَى ثُم تَشَهدْ</b></p> <p class="ENGLISH"><b> لْيُسْرَى ثُم تَشَهدْ</b> This is a sa</p> <p class="ENGLISH"> This is a sa <b> ا لْيُسْرَى ثُم تَشَهدْ</b> This is a sa</p> <p class="ENGLISH"><b> لْيُسْرَى ثُم تَشَهدْ</b> This is a sa <b> لْيُسْرَى ثُم تَشَهدْ</b></p> Note: I've tried this code, but it seems, this code encapsulates the entire contents of the textarea if (pattern.test(newText)) { str = newText.replace($format_search[i], $arab_format_replace[i]); } else { str = newText.replace($format_search[i], $format_replace[i]); }

  13. Start here and add permutations: <embed src='$form_ipdf' style='height:500px' /> Is there a way to embed a pdf proportionally? I'll define the height or width, not both, and count on the engine to display it proportionally without using a slider bar. I want to constrain the display area defining only one dimension. I'm really hoping this is an html exercise and not another js lib. Thanks.
  14. Greetings, I'm not 100% sure if this is a server problem so I apologize if this ends up in the wrong thread. So I moved websites from an old server to a new one and everything is working perfectly with the exception of parsing PHP in an HTML file. for instance the following will only work if its in a .php file not an html, otherwise it just pushes the <?php echo "hello world"; ?> ..which tells me that PHP is on and working, but not parsing HTML. I googled and read as much as I could on here about this, and the only thing that I can find is alterations to the .htaccess file to make this work. I already had a .htaccess file, but maybe now it need altering? I currently have (and it looks messy) this... which worked on my old server and I am assuming old PHP software. I am currently running PHP Version 5.5.20. A snippet from my .htaccess AddType application/x-httpd-php php html AddType application/x-httpd-php .html AddType application/x-httpd-php .htm <Files yourpage.html> AddType application/x-httpd-php .htm I have found a bunch of alterations to this online, but nothing appears to work so I thought I would ask the experts. Again PHP seems to work, but only if the extension is .php which I do not want in this situation. Thanks for any help!
  15. I'm having an issue related to creating forms within a foreach loop. As of now, I have 3 forms in a div, each with their own datepicker instance and submit button ( also using a hidden input for the pageID) The datepickers are unique and working independently, but when it comes to posting the data via ajax and handling it in a php script, It's not inserting data into my db because the names of my two inputs are not unique. I don't really know how to make them unique on the form and then handle those unique names back in the script. Only one form will be submitted at a time so I'm trying to make it to where the user can click on any of these datepickers, select a date and submit, and the ajax will handle only the page ID and the datepicker value for that form submitted and the PHP script will then insert. The sql in my php script works but my POST variables are where I'm having the issue here. Any help is much appreciated. <?php foreach($expiredPages as $expiredPage): ?> <form id="updateTime_<?php echo $expiredPage['id']?>" class="updateTime" method="POST"> <input type="hidden" name="currentPageID<?php echo $expiredPage['id']?>" value="<?php echo $expiredPage['id']?>"> <div class="datepick input-group date" id="datetimepicker_<?php echo $expiredPage['id']?>" data-target-input="nearest"> <input type="text" class="form-control datetimepicker-input" data-target="#datetimepicker_<?php echo $expiredPage['id']?>" name="datePicker<?php echo $expiredPage['id']?>" /> <span class="input-group-addon" data-target="#datetimepicker_<?php echo $expiredPage['id']?>" data-toggle="datetimepicker"> <span class="fa fa-calendar"></span> </span> </div> <input type="submit" name="Extend Date" class="extendDate"> </form> <?php endforeach; ?> <script type="text/javascript"> $(".extendDate").click(function(){ event.preventDefault(); var string = $('.updateTime').serialize(); console.log(string); // AJAX Code To Submit Form. $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "extendTime.php", data: string, dataType: 'json', cache: false, success: function(response){ location.reload(); } }); }); </script> extendTime.php $pageID = $_POST['currentPageID']; $newTime = $_POST[$dtPick]; $newEndTime = DateTime::createFromFormat('m/d/Y h:i A', $newTime); $convertedDateTime = $newEndTime->format('Y-m-d H:i:s'); $extendExpiration = " UPDATE pages SET end_time = '$convertedDateTime' WHERE id = '$pageID'; "; if($mysqlConn->query($extendExpiration)=== TRUE){ echo "SUCCESS"; }else{ echo "Could not extend Time"; }
  16. As the browser is made smaller, or the text larger, and a text line no longer can be placed on a single line, is there an event that signals the browser to wrap it? Is this an event which can be used? Say the text line was contained within a div element. Could I recognize a 'wrap' event, if there is one, for text within that div element? Thank you.

  19. i am creating a responsive website. I'll give you an example. I am retriving 100 items from mysql database using php. I am only showing 20 items per page using simple pagination with arrows. I keep this format on desktop and tablets. However, I would like to show less items when I am viewing the page on a smartphone. So instead of 20 items per page, it'll show 5 items per page along with the pagination arrows. I was wondering if this is possible with PHP or would I have to use javascript?
  20. Hello I have a PHP page that sends text entered by a user to our database which we use to display news. This system supports various languages but occasionally we get issues with odd characters being entered... For example, the premade glyph for ellipsis which is normally represented by 3 .'s broke our system today How can I check that each character is valid and within range? These are our character ranges ExtendedLatin_c_iLowerAlphaChar = 0x00C0; ExtendedLatin_c_iUpperAlphaChar = 0x01FF; Arabic_c_iLowerChar = 0x600; Arabic_c_iUpperChar = 0x6FF; Arabic_c_iLowerAlphaChar = 0x621; Arabic_c_iUpperAlphaChar = 0x64A; Arabic_c_iLowerNumericChar = 0x660; Arabic_c_iUpperNumericChar = 0x669; So each character must fall within one of these ranges... but I have no idea how to get the hex value of a character in PHP Thanks
  21. I have a form that I decided to include Google recaptcha as an added measure of security. When I added the recaptcha it triggers an error because the recaptcha is not whitelisted. I read that HTML5 does not allow assigning the name attribute to div. i.e. <div name="myName"></div>. Against convention, I tried adding a name to the recaptcha div and adding that name to the whitelist. That approach failed. There is an iframe within the div that has the name attribute. I tried using the iframe name in the whitelist. That approach also failed. There is a hidden input that has an id="recaptcha-token". I added 'recaptcha-token' to the whitelist. This approach also failed. The hidden input is generated by the recaptcha api, so I don't think I have a means of assigning a name attribute to this input. Does anyone have a workaround or suggestion ? Note: form validation and whitelist all worked as expected prior to adding recaptcha. This is the div within the form. <div class="row"> <div class="col-md-12"> <div class="g-recaptcha" data-sitekey="<?php print $public_key;?>"></div> </div> </div> This is the code block using the whitelist. // VERIFY LEGITIMACY OF TOKEN if (verifyFormToken('form1')) { // Building a whitelist array with keys which will send through the form, no others would be accepted later on $whitelist = array('token','req-fName','req-lName','req-email','req-phone','req-address','req-city','req-state','req-zip','req-message','req_method','req-dateDepart','req-dateReturn','recaptcha-token','submit'); // Building an array with the $_POST-superglobal foreach ($_POST as $key=>$item) { // Check if the value $key (fieldname from $_POST) can be found in the whitelisting array, if not, die with a short message to the hacker if (!in_array($key, $whitelist)) { writeLog('Unknown form fields'); die('Hack-Attempt detected. Only the fields originally included in the form are allowed!'); } } } Thanks in advance for having a look at this.
