  1. Right now my website url appears like this. http://www.mywebsite.com/index.php I was wondering if there is a way to remove the index.php and just have it show like this when someone goes to the website? http://www.mywebsite.com
  2. Hi everyone, I'm trying to get my head around blending in and out of php and html. I've seen some simple examples which work great but now I have this variable that comes from the database and I would like to style the variable in-line with html markup. Here's what I'm trying to do: <?php echo "Price : ",'<Font size="100"> $tournament["pricePerPlayer"] </font>'; ....more of the same code goes here... ?> I can't get $tournament["pricePerPlayer"] to be controlled by the font tag. How do I do this? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,
  3. I've finished designing my website home page and I've now moved on the some of the other pages, I want my header and footer to appear the same on every page. I've tried this basic way of linking the same stylesheet that makes up my header/footer in the second HTML file (already used in the homepage): <link rel="stylesheet" href="footer.css" type="text/css"/> <link rel="stylesheet" href="header.css" type="text/css"/> I now understand that this isn't going to work. Would a server-side scripting language be my best bet here? Something like PHP? If so, would anyone be able to link me with an article on how I could do this in PHP, I presume with the include function? I've had answers elsewhere but this, for me, isn't working: "You are currently only linking the css for the header and footer. If you want to include the html as the same, create two separate files header.php and footer.php, then include them into each webpage. <?php include('path/to/header.php');?> // in the location you want the header in the page <?php include('path/to/footer.php');?> // in the location you want the footer Essentially, you're making partials and placing them wherever you want them" Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  4. There is no SEO section so I do not know where exactly to ask this question, but here it is. https://www.google.ca/?gfe_rd=cr&ei=jgm3VIqFNtCy8wfH3YD4CA#q=twitter.com Do you see how Google lists Twitter results in two columbs underneath the main heading title? How does one achieve that result with their website? Does only Google decides to make it show up that way?
  5. For a long time, I think I have been using heading tags wrong on websites. They always show like this on Google. Websitename websitename.com/category?name=mystery Posted by Night Flyer; 7 days ago; 5 views. « first; « prev; 1 of 1; next »; last ». Contact Us; @ 2014 websitename Inc. All Rights Reserved. As you can see, Google takes all the heading tags on my page and puts them in the description of the search result. So I have finally come to the conclusion that I should not be using heading tags for those things. Am I correct on that?
  6. So I have a simple query that adds a text record into a MySQL database table. It works great with exception of one thing. I noticed that if I have "&" symbol in my paragraph, the text after that symbol won't be inserted into the table. The text before that symbol will insert fine. It seems to be doing that only with & symbol; other symbols insert and show up fine. can anyone tell me why this is happening?
  7. im trying to insert a value in to mysql using an experiment everything works fine after hitting the insert button but the problem arises wen i refresh the page as a empty value gets inserted in to the mysql table wen i refresh it.(pardon my english) this is the index page where i fetch an result from mysql table: <div id="container"> <div class="Container-left"> </div> <div class="container-right"> <form action="1.2.php" method="post"> <textarea height="190px" width="190px" name="text" placeholder="share wats on your mind"></textarea> <br> <input type="submit" name="button" value="Type Here" /> </form> <hr> <?php include '1.2.php'; while ($fetch = mysqli_fetch_array($query1)) { echo 'comment:'.$fetch['post'].'<br/>'; echo '<small>date:'.$fetch['date'].'</small><br/><hr>'; } ?> </div> </div> this is the page where my second code rests: <?php include 'config.php'; error_reporting(E_ALL ^ E_NOTICE); $h= htmlspecialchars($_POST['text']); $p= mysqli_real_escape_string($conn,$h); $sql = "INSERT INTO article (post) VALUES ('$h') "; $sql1="SELECT * FROM article"; $query=mysqli_query($conn, $sql); $query1= mysqli_query($conn, $sql1); if ($_POST['button']){ echo 'inserted'; } else { echo 'not inserted'. mysqli_error($conn); } what should i do to stop value getting inserted in to my table while refreshing the page. pl help and thanks in advance.
  8. Hello I have a PHP page that sends text entered by a user to our database which we use to display news. This system supports various languages but occasionally we get issues with odd characters being entered... For example, the premade glyph for ellipsis which is normally represented by 3 .'s broke our system today How can I check that each character is valid and within range? These are our character ranges ExtendedLatin_c_iLowerAlphaChar = 0x00C0; ExtendedLatin_c_iUpperAlphaChar = 0x01FF; Arabic_c_iLowerChar = 0x600; Arabic_c_iUpperChar = 0x6FF; Arabic_c_iLowerAlphaChar = 0x621; Arabic_c_iUpperAlphaChar = 0x64A; Arabic_c_iLowerNumericChar = 0x660; Arabic_c_iUpperNumericChar = 0x669; So each character must fall within one of these ranges... but I have no idea how to get the hex value of a character in PHP Thanks
  9. Hi! I need to make a little signup form that contains 2 textbox for name and birthday and 2 buttons for submit and export to xml. When the user clicks on the export to xml button, there must be an xml file containing the information entered by the user that can be downloaded. I'm not really familiar to php but can you give me an idea on how to make this possible ? thank you in advance
  10. i am trying to understand, how a site like ebay can display content and be case insensitive? for example: The original url: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Toshiba-Satellite-C50-AMD-E-Series-1-4GHz-Dual-Core-15-6-Inch-500GB-2GB-Laptop/151458954958 the above works fine and go to the intended page. user editing the browser url into lowercase : http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/toshiba-satellite-c50-amd-e-series-1-4ghz-dual-core-15-6-inch-500gb-2GB-laptop/151458954958 random uppercase and lowercase. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/toshiba-sateLLite-c50-aMd-e-sERIes-1-4ghz-dual-core-15-6-inch-500gb-2GB-laptop/151458954958 both the urls above also work fine and go to the intended page. How can such a thing can work? it is supposed to throw an error such as page not found and the like? any thoughts welcome.
  11. This question has been asked almost exactly: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/20982768/wrap-multi-column-div-around-image I apologize for asking here but the question is almost a year old, and I can't add a comment to it anyways. This is killing me. I'm trying to achieve the same thing only with 3 columns. I have to match a printed publication with no other options. I know the width of images, but the text will always be different lengths. Width of an image will always be 1 or 2 columns, height will always be different. Sometimes there is more than one image lined up vertically. Same widths, different heights. Open up any magazine and you will see what I am talking about. Column span seems to be all or 1, and I am uncomfortable with it's browser support. I'd also have to perfectly position it inside the content text, and because I want to automate things this isn't an option. Am I incorrect? View my current work here: http://www.cswea.org/mag_templates/ The code looks like this: <div style="margin-left:300px;margin-right:300px;"> <div style="margin-left:10px;margin-bottom:10px;display:inline-block;float:right;background-color:blue;width:600px;height:500px;"></div> <div style="display:inline-block;float:left;-webkit-column-count: 3;-moz-column-count: 3;column-count: 3;-webkit-column-gap: 20px;-moz-column-gap: 20px;column-gap: 20px;-webkit-column-rule: 1px outset grey;-moz-column-rule: 1px outset grey;column-rule: 1px outset grey;"> <?php include("content.php"); ?> </div> </div> content.php is 4 P tags with the garbage text inside. As you see, it matches what the OP in the first link is trying to do. If I could post a follow up question/comment that isn't an answer I'd post there. If I remove the columns, the text wraps the way I want it to but it won't fly. Absolutely MUST be 3 columns wrapped around these images and I feel like I'm against a wall here. All my research and googling, or following links from that stack overflow post tells me this isn't possible. I like to believe that in the world of html and css, anything is possible. My other option is a non column divided div, but that means I would have to develop an intelligent way to divide the text up into each div so it looks natural like a magazine article. content.php will always be a list of paragraph tags filled with any length of text so getting the desired result is no simple task. Any tips tricks or hints? Is there somewhere that I can submit the need for this to those involved with what is in the next versions of CSS or HTML? I'm sure if there is that many have already submitted so maybe one more person will help? Is there an HTML5 solution I'm missing? Thank you so much for taking the time to read this! [EDIT] The PDF of the magazine I am working with is here: http://www.cswea.org/magazine/CS_Fall2014_RICH.pdf On page 24-27, the plant profile article, this is what I need to reproduce. [EDIT]
  12. For eg. I have a page with a query that retrives records from the database and I want to have options of filtering out the shown records by date, time, likes, views..etc; how would I go about doing that? The way I am thinking is having a html form with those filter inputs and using a relative query based on the filter selection to retrive the results. What you think?
  13.   14. Below is my code that is suppose to insert and show records from database using ajax. Retrieving the records from the database works. However it won't insert a record. I do not get any errors. The page simply refreshes when I hit submit button. Can you see what might be wrong in my code? index.php <script> $(document).ready(function(){ function showComment(){ $.ajax({ type:"post", url:"process.php", data:"action=showcomment", success:function(data){ $(".wrapper").html(data); } }); } showComment(); $("#submit").click(function(){ var name=$("#name").val(); var message=$("#details").val(); $.ajax({ type:"post", url:"process.php", data:"name="+name+"&details="+message+"&action=addcomment", success:function(data){ showComment(); } }); }); }); </script> $id = $_GET['id']; $title = $_GET['title']; $_SESSION['id'] = $id; $_SESSION['title'] = $title; <div class="wrapper"></div> <form action="" method="post" enctype="multipart/form-data"> <div class="newfield"> <label for="title">Name <span class="highlight">*</span></label> <input id="name" type="text" name="name"> </div> <div class="newfield"> <label for="details">Details <span class="highlight">*</span></label> <textarea id="details" name="details""></textarea> </div> <input type="submit" name="submit" id="submit" value="Submit Tale"> </form> process.php <?php require_once '/core/init.php'; $id = $_SESSION['id']; $action = $_POST['action']; if($action == 'showcomment') { try { $get = $db->prepare("SELECT * FROM sub_posts WHERE id = :id"); $get->bindParam('id', $id); $get->execute(); $getStmt = $get->fetchAll(PDO::FETCH_ASSOC); if(count($getStmt) > 0) { foreach($getStmt as $row) { $new_name = $row['name']; $new_details = $row['details']; ?> <ul> <li> <?php echo $new_name; ?> </li> <li> <?php echo $new_details; ?> </li> </ul> <?php } } else { // no records found. } } catch(Exception $e) { die($e->getMessage()); } } else if($action == 'addcomment') { $name = $_GET['name']; $details = $_GET['details']; try { $insert = $db->prepare("INSERT INTO sub_posts(id, name, details) VALUES(:id, :name, :details)"); $insert->bindParam('id', $id); $insert->bindParam('name', $name); $insert->bindParam('details', $details); $insert->execute(); if($insert == false){ echo 'record could not be inserted.'; } else { echo 'record has been inserted.'; } } catch(Exception $e) { die($e->getMessage()); } } else { echo 'no results.'; }
  15. Before I get into my problem a couple of things. First, this is a work project. My organization cannot afford a full time developer so as a database guy I'm being asked to develop a web based data system using php/html/mysql/javacript/etc. So I am not asking anyone to help me cheat or violate an honor code for a school project. Also I am having to learn PHP on the fly, by the seat of my pants. Second, my organization is using a version of PHP older that 5.5.X and I am powerless to update the version. So I know that some of the syntax I am using has been deprecated in more recent PHP versions. I don't mean to sound snarky or ungrateful but I really need some help solving this problem versus unhelpful comments about deprecated code. Third I am adapting code from the guys at TechStream so H/T to them. Here is what I am trying to build. My office helps other offices in my large organization manage their records through the creation of a file plan. We are currently using a clunky, user-unfriendly Access database that was created back in 2009. I am tasked to transition that Access hoopty into a proper, web-based, user friendly system. The index.php form page consists of 2 parts. You can see the original TechStream demo here: http://demo.techstream.org/Dynamic-Form-Processing-with-PHP/ I've adapted the top part of the form ("Travel Information") for my users to enter information about their office such as Office Name, Office Code, Office Chief, Creator (the user), Status and date. I've adapted the bottom part of the form ("Passenger Details") to be "Folder Details". This is an html table where users can add up to 10000 rows to list all the folders for their office by entering the folder name in the text box and then assign descriptors to each folder using the drop down menus. I've changed the drop down menus to reflect the descriptors we need, i.e. file-series, classification, media type. The user needs the flexibility to add folders as the number of folders will vary between offices. This adding and deleting of folders is accomplished dynamically through a javascript script.js file. Now, here's my problem. When the user clicks submit button that fires a php script that runs an insert into query to place the array data into the backend mysql database. However, when the foreach loop is only inserting the office office from the top portion of the form with the first folder in the bottom portion of the form. In other words let's say the user fills out the top part with his office information and then adds 5 folders into the html table at the botton. The first folder will be inserted into the database table with both office information and folder information. However the subsequent 4 folders will have their folder information inserted into the table but the office information fields will be null. The office information needs to be inserted with each folder the user adds to the html table piece. I suspect that my foreach loop is only capturing that office information on the first iteration of the loop and then flushing or deleting the office information after the first loop. Also, I suspect there is some disconnect between the html table for entering individual folders and the top part of the form that is not in html format. Any help I can get is most welcome. Thanks in advance! Code is below. index.php <?php session_start(); if(!isset($_SESSION['myusername'])) { header('Location:index.php'); } echo $_SESSION['myusername']; echo '<a href="logout.php"><span>Logout</span></a></li>'; <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" xml:lang="en" lang="en"> <head> <title>Records Management File Plan Application</title> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html;   16. All I am trying to do is add a record on a page without the page refreshing. For that ajax is used. Here is the code. It does not add the record to mysql table. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong? record.php <!DOCTYPE HTML> <html lang="en"> <head> <script type="text/javascript" src="js/jquery-1.11.0.min.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" > $(function() { $(".submit_button").click(function() { var textcontent = $("#content").val(); var name = $("#name").val(); var dataString = 'content='+ textcontent + '&name='+name; if(textcontent=='') { alert("Enter some text.."); $("#content").focus(); } else { $("#flash").show(); $("#flash").fadeIn(400).html('<span class="load">Loading..</span>'); $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "action.php", data: dataString, cache: true, success: function(html){ $("#show").after(html); document.getElementById('content').value=''; $("#flash").hide(); $("#content").focus(); } }); } return false; }); }); </script> </head> <body> <?php $record_id = $_GET['id']; // getting ID of current page record ?> <form action="" method="post" enctype="multipart/form-data"> <div class="field"> <label for="title">Name *</label> <input type="text" name="name" id="name" value="" maxlength="20" placeholder="Your name"> </div> <div class="field"> <label for="content">content *</label> <textarea id="content" name="content" maxlength="500" placeholder="Details..."></textarea> </div> <input type="submit" name="submit" value="submit" class="submit_button"> </form> <div id="flash"></div> <div id="show"></div> </body> </html> action.php if(isset($_POST['submit'])) { if(empty($_POST['name']) || empty($_POST['content'])) { $error = 'Please fill in the required fields!'; } else { try { $name = trim($_POST['name']); $content = trim($_POST['content']); $stmt = $db->prepare("INSERT INTO records(record_id, name, content) VALUES(:recordid, :name, :content"); $stmt->execute(array( 'recordid' => $record_id, 'name' => $name, 'content' => $content )); if(!$stmt){ $error = 'Please fill in the required fields.'; } else { $success = 'Your post has been submitted.'; } } catch(Exception $e) { die($e->getMessage()); } } }

  18. I am trying to implement the new version of captcha on my website. What i did so far: Inside the FORM: echo '<div class="g-recaptcha" data-sitekey="XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX"></div>'; Inside PHP: $recaptcha = $_POST['g-recaptcha-response']; if(!empty($recaptcha)) { $google_url = "https://www.google.com/recaptcha/api/siteverify"; $secret = 'YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY'; $ip = $_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR']; $url = $google_url."?secret=".$secret."&response=".$recaptcha."&remoteip=".$ip; $res = getCurlData($url); $res = json_decode($res, true); if($res['success'] == 'false') { $captcha_error = "Please re-enter your reCAPTCHA."; } } The getCurlData function: function getCurlData($url) { $curl = curl_init(); curl_setopt($curl, CURLOPT_URL, $url); curl_setopt($curl, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, 1); curl_setopt($curl, CURLOPT_TIMEOUT, 10); curl_setopt($curl, CURLOPT_USERAGENT, "Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2.16) Gecko/20110319 Firefox/3.6.16"); $curlData = curl_exec($curl); curl_close($curl); return $curlData; } What i want to achieve is to know when the no-Captcha box is checked. I want to throw an error to the user if he/she did not check that box. So far i only throw an error if the response from Google is "We are not sure if you are human, please proceed to our second level of verification" [if($res['success'] == 'false')]. PS: most of the code is written by Srinivas Tamada. You can find it here. Thanks in advance.
  19. Hi to All, I am performing calculation which i echo it in the input form to insert it to DB table The calculation works fine when i submit the form but the it does not correct calculation to the DB. it seems that the isert to database is done before the calculation and I can't figure a way around it. Because i'm submitting to the same page, the calculation populate in the input form correctly but it insert Zero to the database table instead of correct calculation populated in the input field to DB table You could see from the line 114 to 116 that, i'm performing some calculations and echo it at line 128 and line 128 in the input form value field. Please any help on how to do this...All the function in the code is in another file and it works fine...so the only program is that the calculated value is not inserted as expected Here is the code <?php include 'core/initForMainLogPage.php'; if(isset($_GET['empId']) && !empty($_GET['empId'])){ //delete employee here $empId=$_GET['empId']; grabEmpId($empId); } ?> <?php if(logged_in()){ $data=user_dataManager('username'); $usernameData=$data['username']; }else{ header('Location: index.php'); } ?> <?php include 'includes/adminHeadAll.php';?> <header> <?php include 'includes/managerMenu.php';?> </header> <div class="container"> <br/> <h3>Pay Employee</h3> <?php $error=array(); $errorAll=''; $leave=""; if(isset($_POST['empId']) && isset($_POST['name']) && isset($_POST['date']) && isset($_POST['basicSalary']) && isset($_POST['leave']) && isset($_POST['salaryPerDay']) && isset($_POST['leaveDeduct']) && isset($_POST['netSalary'])){ $empId=htmlentities(mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['empId'])); $name=htmlentities(mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['name'])); $date=htmlentities(mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['date'])); $basicSalary=htmlentities(mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['basicSalary'])); $leave=htmlentities(mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['leave'])); $salaryPerDay=htmlentities(mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['salaryPerDay'])); $leaveDeduct=htmlentities(mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['leaveDeduct'])); $netSalary=htmlentities(mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['netSalary'])); //checking for the validity of data entered if(empty($leave) || empty($date)){ $error[]='Pleave leave or date field is empty.'; }else{ if(preg_match('/[0-9]/',$leave)==false){ $error[]='Leave should only contain numbers'; } if(empId($empId)===false){ $error[]="This employee is not recoganize by the system and can not be paid,he may need to register first."; } } if(!empty($error)){ $errorAll= '<div class="error"><ul><li>'.implode('</li><li>',$error).'</li></ul></div>'; }else{ //this funciton insert into database payrollData($name,$empId,$date,$basicSalary,$leave,$salaryPerDay,$leaveDeduct,$netSalary); echo '<p class="pa">Payment made successfully. <a href="employees-salary-report.php">See Payment Records</a></p>'; } }//end isset ?> <div class="tableWrap"> <form action="" method="post" > <div class="styletable"><table cellpadding="" cellspacing="" border="0"> <?php $query=mysql_query("SELECT empId,name,level,company.compId,company.levelOne,company.levelTwo, company.levelThree,company.levelFour,company.levelFive FROM employee JOIN company ON company.compId=1 WHERE empId='$empId' LIMIT 1"); while($row=mysql_fetch_array($query)){ $empId=$row['empId']; $name=$row['name']; $levelEmp=$row['level']; $levelOne=$row['levelOne']; $levelTwo=$row['levelTwo']; $levelThree=$row['levelThree']; $levelFour=$row['levelFour']; $levelFive=$row['levelFive']; if($levelEmp==1){ $levelPay=$levelOne; }elseif($levelEmp==2){ $levelPay=$levelTwo; }elseif($levelEmp==3){ $levelPay=$levelThree; }elseif($levelEmp==4){ $levelPay=$levelFour; }elseif($levelEmp==5){ $levelPay=$levelFive; } //making calculations here $basicSalary=$levelPay * 30; $leaveDeduct=$leave * $levelPay; $netSalary=$basicSalary - $leaveDeduct; } ?> <tr><td>Employee ID: </td><td><input type="text" name="empId" readonly="readonly" value="<?php if(isset($empId)){echo $empId;}?>"></td></tr> <tr><td>Employee: </td><td><input type="text" name="name" readonly="readonly" value="<?php if(isset($name)){ echo $name;}?>"></td></tr> <tr><td>Date: </td><td><input type="text" id="Date" class="picker" name="date"></td></tr> <tr><td> Basic Salary: </td><td><input type="text" name="basicSalary" readonly="readonly" value="<?php echo $basicSalary;?>"></td></tr> <tr><td> No. Of Absent: </td><td><input type="text" name="leave" class="input" value=""></td></tr> <tr><td> Salary Per Day:</td><td><input type="text" name="salaryPerDay" readonly="readonly" value="<?php echo $levelPay;?>"></td></tr> <tr><td> Deduction For Absentee:</td><td><input type="text" name="leaveDeduct" readonly="readonly" value="<?php echo $leaveDeduct;?>"></td></tr> <tr><td> Net Salary:</td><td><input type="text" name="netSalary" readonly="readonly" value="<?php echo $netSalary;?>"></td></tr> <tr><td> </td><td><input type="submit" value="Submit Pay" class="submit" name="pay"></td></tr> </table></div> </form> <?php ?> </div> <br /> <?php echo $errorAll; ?> <p>Manage the monthly salary details of your employee along with the allowances, deductions, etc. by just entering their leave</p> </div> <?php include 'includes/footerAll.php';?> <script type="text/javascript" src="js/jquery.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="js/jquery-ui.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="js/ui.js"></script> </body> </html>
  20. Hello everyone I need your assitance a great deal, so I have a form which i submitted to a php file throug ajax and jquery. It is working A ok but I want to be able to submit it with javascript instead, so i don't load any lib. And it is now a problem. The method I use to get the form field names and values in jquery is so simple and dynamic hence if changes are made on the html form i don't have to edit my jquery file to effect the change ie in respect to changing the name of the fields or adding more fields. But I don't know to archieve this using javascript. So i want to post my jquery script, for you all my mighty programmers to assist me get a javascript Clone for me, thank you very much for Helping Jquery file $("form.ajax").on("submit", function(){ var that= $(this); that.find('[name]').each(function(index,value){ var that = $(this), name =that.attr('name'), value =that.val(); data[name]=value; }); return false;}); Now the above code is just my major focus of the script. What it does is that select the form with an ajax class attribute and run a function after the user submits the form. The var that get reference to the above form throug the (this) reference. Next i use find fuction to look through out the open and close of our form.ajax form for any element that has the name attribute and set it into array using the .each(function (index,value){}) this is my main focus how to ilterate through the form looking for name attribute and set my finding into array using javascript. The next that var reference to the find statement and then we steal the name attribute and value from our findings and set an array called data with the stolen name variable as its index n value attribute as its value. Thank you once more my aim again is with the find and array setting statement.

  25. Hi there, I have this conversion program I am trying to make. Basically I have one file called 'index.html' and another called 'convert.php', the basic function of this program is to show a form in the html page and then get the calculation from the php form and then show the result back on the html page. The html page uses a dropdown list of different conversions the user can select from. Below is the code I've got. Please can you help with fixing this thing! It's really annoying me! :@ HTML CODE: <HTML> <HEAD> <title>Unit Converter</title> </HEAD> <BODY> <h1>CONVERSION</h1> <form action="convert.php" method="post"> <link rel="StyleSheet" media="screen" href="convert.css"> Type of conversion: <br> <select name="conversionType"> <option value="null" selected="selected">Select type...</option> <option value="null"></option> <option value="null">--Temperature--</option> <option value="C-F">Celsius to Fahrenheit</option> <option value="C-K">Celsius to Kelvin</option> <option value="C-R">Celsius to Rankine</option> <option value="K-C">Kelvin to Celsius</option> <option value="K-F">Kelvin to Fahrenheit</option> <option value="K-R">Kelvin to Rankine</option> <option value="F-C">Fahrenheit to Celsius</option> <option value="F-K">Fahrenheit to Kelvin</option> <option value="F-R">Fahrenheit to Rankine</option> <option value="R-C">Rankine to Celsius</option> <option value="R-K">Rankine to Kelvin</option> <option value="R-F">Rankine to Fahrenheit</option> </select> <br><br> Value to convert:<br> <input type="text" name="conversionInput"> <br><br> <input type="submit" value="Convert"> </form> </BODY> </HTML> PHP CODE: <HTML> <title>Conversion Output</title> </HTML> <?php $conversionType = $_POST['conversionType']; $conversionInput = $_POST['conversionInput']; $conversionValue; $conversionFrom; $conversionTo; if ($conversionType == 'C-F') { $conversionValue = $conversionInput * (5/9) + 32; $conversionFrom = "° Celsius"; $conversionTo = "° Fahrenheit"; } if ($conversionType == 'C-K') { $conversionValue = $conversionInput + 273.15; $conversionFrom = "° Celsius"; $conversionTo = "° Kelvin"; } if ($conversionType == 'C-R') { $conversionValue = ($conversionInput + 273.15) * (9/5); $conversionFrom = "° Celsius"; $conversionTo = "° Rankine"; } if ($conversionType == 'K-C') { $conversionValue = $conversionInput - 273.15; $conversionFrom = "° Kelvin"; $conversionTo = "° Celsius"; } if ($conversionType == 'K-F') { $conversionValue = $conversionInput * (9/5) - 459.67 ; $conversionFrom = "° Kelvin"; $conversionTo = "° Fahrenheit"; } if ($conversionType == 'K-R') { $conversionValue = $conversionInput * (9/5); $conversionFrom = "° Kelvin"; $conversionTo = "° Rankine"; } if ($conversionType == 'F-C') { $conversionValue = ($conversionInput - 32) * (5/9) ; $conversionFrom = "° Fahrenheit"; $conversionTo = "° Celsius"; } if ($conversionType == 'F-K') { $conversionValue = ($conversionInput + 459.67) * (5/9); $conversionFrom = "° Fahrenheit"; $conversionTo = "° Kelvin"; } if ($conversionType == 'F-R') { $conversionValue = $conversionInput + 459.67; $conversionFrom = "° Fahrenheit"; $conversionTo = "° Rankine"; } if ($conversionType == 'R-C') { $conversionValue = ($conversionInput + 491.67) * (5/9); $conversionFrom = "° Rankine"; $conversionTo = "° Celsius"; } if ($conversionType == 'R-K') { $conversionValue = $conversionInput * (5/9); $conversionFrom = "° Rankine"; $conversionTo = "° Kelvin"; } if ($conversionType == 'R-F') { $conversionValue = $conversionInput - 459.67; $conversionFrom = "° Rankine"; $conversionTo = "° Fahrenheit"; } echo "$conversionInput $conversionFrom = $conversionValue $conversionTo"; ?>
