  1. I want to fetch items from a database and be able to update their quantity by selecting a number from a drop down selection and press the button "Update quantity" to perform the action. I have the following php code: echo '<table border="4"> <tr> <th>ID</th> <th>Item Name</th> <th>Current Quantity</th> <th>New Quantity</th> <th>Update</th> </tr>'; for($i=0 ;$i<$k; $i++) $z = $i+1; //fetch data from database $id = the id of the row that the entry/item is at $item_name = the name of the item $current_quantity = the current quantity of the item //create a table of entries echo '<tr'> <td>'.$z.'</td> <td>'.$item_name.'</td> <td>'.$current_quantity.'</td> <td> <select id="quantity" name="quantity"> <option value="1">1</option> <option value="2">2</option> <option value="3">3</option> . . . </select> </td>'; echo '<td> <button type="button" value="'.$id.'" name="updatebtn" id="updatebtn">Update Quantity</button> </td>'; echo '</tr>'; Where k = number or matches in database The result is something like this: //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// ///ID // Item Name // Current Quantity // New Quantity // Update /// //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// // 1 // Shoes // 10 // 12 // Update Quantity // //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// // 2 // T-shirts // 5 // 8 // Update Quantity // //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// // 3 // Watches // 4 // 2 // Update Quantity // //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// The first 3 columns are populated by the database and New Quantity by the user. As soon as the user is done with the new quantity he/she presses "Update Quantity" to update the database. Below is the jQuery code i use: $(document).ready(function(){ $('#updatebtn').click(function(){ //i use this value to find the exact entry in the database var id = $('#updatebtn').attr('value'); var quantity_selected = $('select#quantity option:selected').attr('value'); $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "js/ajax/updatequantity.php", data: {id: id, new_quantity: quantity_selected} }); //this is for testing alert('ok'); }); }); The updatequantity.php script just takes the new quantity and the row of the entry and updates the value. My problem is: If i press the "Update Quantity" of the item "Shoes", i see the pop-up "ok" and the quantity is updated. But when i try to do the same for the 2 other items (T-shirts and watches), i get nothing. Does my js script has trouble to differentiate between the "Update Quantity" buttons? Is there another approach? ps: i am doing this using wamp on my localhost Thanks in advance.
  2.   3. Good evening, I have a jQuery datepicker that I am trying to insert different date values into different textboxes based on the user's selection. The original box displays the standard date format, input box 2 displays the date format suited for mysql, input box 3 needs to display the Month based on user selection, input box 4 displays the Year, and input box 5 needs to display the Month and the Year. The problem I am having is when I try to add multiple altField, it will only update the last id indicated. Here's my code. Thanks in advanced, Demeritrious HTML <input type="text" id="Goal" name="Goal" value="<?php echo $Goal; ?>"> <input type="text" id="GoalDate" name="GoalDate" value="<?php echo $GoalDate; ?>"> <input type="text" id="MyBillsMonth" name="Month" value="<?php echo $Month; ?>"> <input type="text" id="MyBillsYear" name="Year" value="<?php echo $Year; ?>"> <input type="text" id="MyBillsMonthYear" name="MonthYear" value="<?php echo $MonthYear; ?>"> JQUERY I've tried this $( "#Goal" ).datepicker({ changeMonth: true, changeYear: true, dateFormat: 'mm-dd-yy', altField: "#GoalDate, #MyBillsMonth, #MyBillsYear, #MyBillsMonthYear", altFormat: "yy-mm-dd, MM, yy, MM yy" }); AND This $( "#Goal" ).datepicker({ changeMonth: true, changeYear: true, dateFormat: 'mm-dd-yy', altField: "#GoalDate", altFormat: "yy-mm-dd", altField: "#MyBillsMonth", altFormat: "MM", altField: "#MyBillsYear", altFormat: "yy", altField: "#MyBillsMonthYear", altFormat: "MM yy" });
  4. Hi, what I'm tryng is to append a table row with associated jquery code... I have a jquery code just like this <script type="text/javascript"> jQuery(function($) { var rowCtr = 0; $('.addRow').click(function(){ $('#tableID > tbody:last').append('<tr name="rowEq['+rowCtr+']" id="rowEq['+rowCtr+']"><td>'+ '<select id="stype'+rowCtr+'" name="rowData['+rowCtr+'][equipment_type]">'+ '<option value="0"> -- </option>'+ '<option value="1"> Type 1 </option>'+ '<option value="2"> Type 2 </option>'+ '<option value="3"> Other </option>'+ '</select>'+ '<input id="other_type'+rowCtr+'" type="text" name="rowData['+rowCtr+'][other_type]">'+ ); $('#stype'+rowCtr).change(function() { if(jQuery('#stype'+rowCtr).val() == '3') { jQuery('#other_type'+rowCtr).show(); }else{ jQuery('#other_type'+rowCtr).hide(); } }); if(jQuery( '#stype'+rowCtr ).val() != '3') { jQuery('#other_type'+rowCtr).hide(); } rowCtr++; }); }); </script> And html like this.. <input type='button' class='addRow' value="Add Row"> <form> <table id="tableId"> <thead> <tr> <th> Type </th> </tr> </thead> <tbody> <tr> <td> dummy text.. </td> </tr> </tbody> </table> </form> The appending is ok but the hidding/showing of "other_type" field is not working. It always hide "other_type" field even if I already selected the 'other' option.
  5. I have the below code to open contents in a div or modal window and at the same time showing the url that matches the specified page which works as expected, no problems rising: $(document).ready(function(){ ///////LINK in a Div//////// $('#all').delegate('a.img-lnk, a.txt-lnk', 'click', function(){ $('#main').empty(); var page = $(this).attr('id'); var pageurl = $(this).attr('data-seo'); $('#main').load("../"+ page + ".php"); window.history.pushState('','',pageurl); }); ///////LINK in a Modal Window//////// $('#all').delegate('a.pop-lnk', 'click', function(){ var poppage = $(this).attr('id'); var popurl = $(this).attr('data-seo'); $('#popup').load("../char-inf/"+ poppage + ".php"); window.history.pushState('','',"/char-inf/"+ popurl); }); $('body').delegate('.hide-it', 'click', function(){ $('.hide-it').hide(); $('#popup').empty(); window.history.back(); }); }); Problem: If I give you a url of a link in my page e.g. www.example.com/test1 and paste it in your browser the test1 page will open normally, BUT after that if you navigate to page test2 then the new url becomes www.example.com/test1/test2. Is there a way to turn the url at its normal state which would be www.example.com/test2?
  6. Is there a way to change the url in the code below using window.history.pushState dynamically to match the "page" variable? $(document).ready(function(){ $('#all').delegate('a.pop-lnk', 'click', function(){ var page = $(this).attr('id'); $('#popup').load("../folder/"+ page + ".php"); window.history.pushState('','','/page'); }); });
  7. I have couple jquery codes in a single file: $(document).ready(function(){ $('#all').delegate('a.link', 'click', function(){ //more code here }) $('body').delegate('.nice', 'click', function(){ //more code here }) }); This works great but is it better to close each function using ; symbol? Even if I do or not the code works ok, BUT whats the correct way?
  8. I am using this to open contents into a modal window, but in the process I am passing it through loop.php to check if the page exists and then load. Is there a way to completely skip the loop.php file and load my clicked link? $(document).ready(function(){ ///////LINK in a Modal Window//////// $('#all').delegate('a.pop-lnk', 'click', function(){ var page = $(this).attr('id'); $('#gr-out').css({ opacity: 0.7, 'width':$(document).width(),'height':$(document).height()}).show(); $('#popup').css({'display': 'block'}); $('#popup').load("../help-file/loop.php?page="+ page); }); }); The id attr I am getting from this code is my page's name but I need to add the .php extension if is possible so I can load the page.
  9. Hello everyone, I am working on a form that is similar to a shopping cart system and I am thinking of creating a button that submits the checked value and saves them to a $_SESSION variable. And also a link that links to a cart.html that takes the values of a $_SESSION variable. I am have trouble figuring what tag/attribute should I use in order to achieve that. Right now my code attached below submits the checked values to cart.html directly. However I want my submit button to save the checked box to a $_SESSION variable and STAY on the same page. And then I will implement a <a> to link to the cart.php. I researched a little bit about this subject and I know it's somewhat related to ajax/jquery. I just wanted to know more about it from you guys. I appreciate your attention for reading the post and Thanks! Below is the form that I currently have: <form name= "finalForm" method="POST" action="cart.php"> <input type="Submit" name="finalSelected"/> <?php foreach($FinalName as $key => $item) {?> <tr> <td><input type="checkbox" name="fSelected[]" value="<?php echo htmlspecialchars($FinalID[$key])?>" /> <?php echo "$FinalID[$key] & $item";?> </td> </tr> <?php } ;?> Below is the code for cart.php <?php require ('connect_db.php'); if(isset($_POST['finalSelected'])) { if(!empty($_POST['fSelected'])) { $chosen = $_POST['fSelected']; foreach ($chosen as $item) echo "aID selected: $item </br>"; $delimit = implode(", ", $chosen); print_r($delimit); } } if(isset($delimit)) { $cartSQL = "SELECT * from article where aID in ($delimit)"; $cartQuery = mysqli_query($dbc, $cartSQL) or die (mysqli_error($dbc)); while($row = mysqli_fetch_array($cartQuery, MYSQLI_BOTH)) { $aTitle[] = $row[ 'name' ]; } } ?> <table> <?php if(isset($delimit)) { $c=0; foreach($aTitle as $item) {?> <tr> <td> <?php echo $aTitle[$c]; $c++;?> </td> </tr> <?php }}?> </table>
  10. Hi everyone, I am having trouble passing/displaying the values inside of a selected list. I created a add/remove list using Jquery and I tried to display the values passed using foreach and for loops but it is still not working. The values I am trying to get are $existing_mID[$j], which is inside of the option value attribute. Please kindly let me know what should I do in order to get the values and I really appreciate your help. <?php $selected = $_POST['selectto']; if(isset($selected)) { echo "something in selected<br />"; for ($i=0;$i<count($selected);$i++) echo "selected #1 : $selected[$i]"; foreach ($selected as $item) echo "selected: item: $item"; } ?> This is the form <form> <select name="selectfrom[]" id="select-from" multiple="" size="10"> <?php $j=0; foreach($existing_mTitle as $item) { ;?> <option value="<?php $existing_mID[$j];?>" > <?php echo "$existing_mID[$j] & $item";$j++;?> </option> <?php }?> </select> <a href="JavaScript:void(0);" id="btn-add">Add »</a> <a href="JavaScript:void(0);" id="btn-remove">« Remove</a> <select name="selectto[]" id="select-to" multiple="" size="10"></label> </select> <input type="submit" name="addArticle" value="Add" /> </form> Below is my Jquery code that I implemented. $(document).ready(function() { $('#btn-add').click(function(){ $('#select-from option:selected').each( function() { $('#select-to').append("<option value='"+$(this).val()+"'>"+$(this).text()+"</option>"); $('#select-to option').attr('selected',true); $(this).remove(); }); }); $('#btn-remove').click(function(){ $('#select-to option:selected').each( function() { $('#select-from').append("<option value='"+$(this).val()+"'>"+$(this).text()+"</option>"); $('#select-to option[value=' +$(this).val()+ ']').attr('selected',true); $(this).remove(); }); }); });
  11. Hello: I am having a brain fart on how to get this done and any ideas would greatly be appreciated. I am working on a in-house mailbox project and have my first problem. I am going to try and explain this a simple as possible as putting the words from my head to screen harder than I thought. I have a page with 1 div called msgs_main. Inside of that div are 2 more, top one called msgs_msgs and the bottom called msgs_content. The msgs_msgs div contains a simple mysqli query displaying the records that correspond to the user. What I want/need is that when the user clicks one of the rows, the contents of the message are displayed in the msgs_content div. I could provide the code, if it helps, but I am not really looking for answered code, but a process to learn from, like. "First, get a join and have all the records display in the msg_msgs div. Display them all to see that all the data is there. Later in production, remove the un-necessary fields from top div". Then research .... etc
  12. Hi again PHP Freaks. So I would like to code something similar to the buy menu of Counter-strike: Global offensive in-game module, just in a browser and for a project of mine. I've made the design in photoshop to illustrate better. I just don't know what I should look into to make this kind of menu, I would love if someone could explain me what languages that this would require. (I'm guessing HTML, CSS and jQuery but I am not sure) more specific help like which particular codes would be much appreciated. Here is a picture of what I would like to create. (Also attached) http://i1227.photobucket.com/albums/ee433/rec0ill/CSGOKeyz_zps4195288a.png

  15. When I click on the letter of the alphabet on my form page, it will bring up the results of my query. I got this part working. The next part is to be able to click on any of the populated results and have it autofill my form with organization, first name, last name, email address and phone number. I know that I need to use Ajax and jQuery to accomplish this. Here is my html <!-- Letter Search --> <div class="searchBox span12"> <h3>Choose the First Letter of the Person's Last Name</h3> <ul> <li class="alphabets" id="A"><a href="?by=A">A</a></li> <li class="alphabets" id="B"><a href="?by=B">B</a></li> <li class="alphabets" id="C"><a href="?by=C">C</a></li> <li class="alphabets" id="D"><a href="?by=D">D</a></li> <li class="alphabets" id="E"><a href="?by=E">E</a></li> <li class="alphabets" id="F"><a href="?by=F">F</a></li> <li class="alphabets" id="G"><a href="?by=G">G</a></li> <li class="alphabets" id="H"><a href="?by=H">H</a></li> <li class="alphabets" id="I"><a href="?by=I">I</a></li> <li class="alphabets" id="J"><a href="?by=J">J</a></li> <li class="alphabets" id="K"><a href="?by=K">K</a></li> <li class="alphabets" id="L"><a href="?by=L">L</a></li> <li class="alphabets" id="M"><a href="?by=M">M</a></li> <li class="alphabets" id="N"><a href="?by=N">N</a></li> <li class="alphabets" id="O"><a href="?by=O">O</a></li> <li class="alphabets" id="P"><a href="?by=P">P</a></li> <li class="alphabets" id="Q"><a href="?by=Q">Q</a></li> <li class="alphabets" id="R"><a href="?by=R">R</a></li> <li class="alphabets" id="S"><a href="?by=S">S</a></li> <li class="alphabets" id="T"><a href="?by=T">T</a></li> <li class="alphabets" id="U"><a href="?by=U">U</a></li> <li class="alphabets" id="V"><a href="?by=V">V</a></li> <li class="alphabets" id="W"><a href="?by=W">W</a></li> <li class="alphabets" id="X"><a href="?by=X">X</a></li> <li class="alphabets" id="Y"><a href="?by=Y">Y</a></li> <li class="alphabets" id="Z"><a href="?by=Z">Z</a></li> </ul> <? include('search.php'); ?> </div> <hr style="color:#ccc; margin-bottom:20px;" /> <!-- Main Form --> <div id="mainForm"> <form method="post" id="icsForm" class="searchBox span12"> <div id="col1" class"span6"> <h3>Contact Information</h3> <label>Church / Organization:</label><input type="text" name="organization" id="organization" class="span6 upright" /><br /> <label>First Name:</label><input type="text" name="firstName" id="firstName" class="span6 upright" /> <label>Last Name:</label><input type="text" name="lastName" id="lastName" class="span6 left upright" /> <label>Email Address:</label><input type="text" name="email" id="email" class="span6 left upright" /> <label>Phone Number:</label><input type="text" name="phone" id="phone" class="span6 left upright" /> </div> </div> Here is my php if(preg_match("/^[A-Z | a-z]+/", $_POST['name'])){ $name=$_POST['name']; } if(isset($_GET['by'])){ $letter=$_GET['by']; //query to sort by last name $sql="SELECT contact_id, first_name, last_name, church_org, email_address, phone_number FROM ics_data WHERE last_name LIKE '$letter%' ORDER BY last_name ASC"; //run the query against the mysql query function $result=mysql_query($sql); //count results $numrows=mysql_num_rows($result); echo "<p>" .$numrows . I'm not solid on the Ajax part. That is the part that is tripping me up. I know that I need to make the form autofill when clicking on a specific result returned from my query... but i'm not sure how to do that. Thank you in advance for any help or advice you can give!! I am relatively new to programming. Hopefully I posted this in the right forum as a lot of these technologies overlap.
  16. Good Day PHP world, I am encountering a problem in php code meant to allow the user to update their profile picture. I am using jquery.min and jquery.js. The code below runs with no errors reported. The file has been successfully uploaded to upload path using this form. upload.php <form id="imageform" method="post" enctype="multipart/form-data" action='ajaximage.php'> <input type="file" name="photoimg" id="photoimg" class="stylesmall"/> </form> ajaximage.php $path = "uploads/"; $valid_formats = array("jpg", "png", "gif", "bmp","jpeg"); if(isset($_POST) and $_SERVER['REQUEST_METHOD'] == "POST") { $name = $_FILES['photoimg']['name']; $size = $_FILES['photoimg']['size']; if(strlen($name)) { list($txt, $ext) = explode(".", $name); if(in_array($ext,$valid_formats)) { if($size<(1024*1024)) // Image size max 1 MB { $actual_image_name = $name.".".$ext; $tmp = $_FILES['photoimg']['tmp_name']; if(move_uploaded_file($tmp, $path.$actual_image_name)) { $query = "UPDATE users SET profile_image='$actual_image_name' WHERE student_id='{$_SESSION['user_id']}'"; $result = mysqli_query($link_id, $query); echo "<img src='uploads/".$actual_image_name."' class='preview'>"; } The problem is the image being uploaded does not display on the Student_home.php <div id="about-img"> <img class="profile-photo" align="middle" src='uploads/".$actual_image_name."' /> </div> But the image uploaded will display when i write directly its filename example <div id="about-img"> <img class="profile-photo" align="middle" src="uploads/107.jpg" /> </div> My problem is i wanted to display the uploaded picture of the specific student on Student_Home.php
  17. I would appreciate if someone could figure this out or tell me the easiest way to do this. I need a count up counter that appears in a textbox so I can record the time a user is on a page. On a side note, I do have their Start and finish time timestamp recorded in myphpadmin database but I am looking for the easiest (or best) way to do this. Any advice or scripts would be very much appreciated. Thanks in advanced. I did find this counter that works but the numbers appear 0.0.1 if counting up. I don't want to confuse the user. I really want to display to the user how long they was on a certain page. <script> $(document).ready(function() { var time = '00:00:00', parts = time.split(':'), hours = +parts[0], minutes = +parts[1], seconds = +parts[02], input = $('#timeInput'); var timer = setInterval(function(){ seconds++; if(seconds == 60) { seconds = 00; minutes++; if(minutes == 60) { minutes = 00; hours++; } } var newTime = hours + ":" + minutes + ":" + seconds; $('#timeInput').val(newTime); }, 1000); }); </script> <input type="text" name="time" id="timeInput"/>

  20. I have a multi-step form that offers different options of membership to users with the e-mail domain 'vip.co.uk' I finally have it working but have hit a wall with pulling the variables together to form an URL that can be submitted to the payment gateway in the final step. The variables I need to pass are username, password, email, subscription id (a value attached to a radio button in step 2 - not yet built it). I have a JS fiddle at http://jsfiddle.net/zsasvoo4/15/. The final form will be in PHP and I'd prefer to use that language.
  21. Hello, I am building an online game(users make a character and move on a map and so on...) All user data is stored in a mySQL database and I want the users to interact in real-time, but there can be a 1-3 second delay between the communication, but not exceed 3 seconds even if 500 players are playing at the same time. But for the purpose of the question let's say the users can only chat between one another, if I'll have a solution for that then I can use the same method for more parts of the game. I can't use websockets because my webhost doesn't support it( I don't want to use pusher.com). I know I can make real-time apps with ajax long polling, but I think that with 500 players playing at the same time it's not the best solution. So, finally: How can I make user interaction as close as possible to a real-time game? (Without too much load on the hosting server) (I am sorry if some of my terms are not correct - I am just getting back to coding after a long time...)
  22. I have the following menu that changes to red if each of the menu items are hovered over. This menu shows on every page of my website. I have the following problem: If a user was to click a menu item (e.g. Menu 2), the page will navigation to the page set in the a tag (i.e page2.html) If the user was to leave there mouse in the same position as it was in before the menu item was clicked (i.e. over the selected menu item), then the menu would automatically change to red again on the new page, as the jQuery hover code below will be activated. Is there a way to stop this behaviour? Ideally I want users to have to mouse off of the menu item and then on it again before the menu item changes to red if the users mouse is still over the selected menu item after clicking one of the menu links. <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { $('li').hover(function() { $(this).css('background', 'red'); }, function() { $(this).css('background', 'none'); }) }) </script> <ul> <li><a href="page1.html">Menu 1</a></li> <li><a href="page2.html">Menu 2</a></li> <li><a href="page3.html">Menu 3</a></li> </ul>
  23. Hi, I've seen this done, and I thought it would be simple now that I am starting to understand ajax but I can't figure it out. I am using jQuery ajax via wordpress. I can click a button, call a php function and use the value returned from php to populate the textbox. Ok, great! but I want to run a rather lengthy procedure, and while it's running I would like it to record it's status in a multi-line text box as sort of a debugger ( and to pass the time while waiting ) How can I accomplish this? I've googled but I must not be using the correct words to search.
  24. Hi ! I am having a heck of a time sending data back in responseText. First of all, I am not actually sure how my data is being sent back into responseText - it is the result of me using a jquery plugin called iframetransport which seeks to transport file inputs across an iframe for ajax like form submission. Anyway, I am echoing back data from PHP like so echo json_encode(array("rowData"=> '<div class = "row" data-id = "'.$row['id'].'" > <div class = "row"><img src="data:image/jpeg;base64,'.base64_encode( $row['blob'] ).'"/></div> <div class = "container"> <div class = "name"><p>'.$row['name'] .'</p></div> </div> </div>')); I know that this data is valid in normal ajax $.posts because I also have form submission without the iframetransport, and it returns the exact same data with no issue. However, when the above data makes its way into responseText it looks like this on the client side: "{"rowData":"\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tasdasd<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t1<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>"}" All my divs and elements are replaced with \t or they are not making it into the response. Also when I return blobs like this (this is even worse) I get a 414 (Request-URI Too Large) Any help is appreciated. This is the plugin http://cmlenz.github.io/jquery-iframe-transport/ if interested.
  25. Hi Everyone, I am struggling with a pdf. On our server I get the pdf as a byte array from the database, which I then build up in a StreamingOutput object and return as a pdf file. This is done using java using JAX-RS service. Now when I open the path/link in my browser(chrome/firefox) the pdf opens in the browser. So this means my backend is working. On my webapp I want to use $.ajax to download the pdf and view it in an Iframe or embed it in an <embed> or <object> tag. I need to do this as the service call is actually under username and password, and we do not create a session between the browser and the server - there is a long explanation for this. I saw the option to use http://[username]:[password]@www.myserver.com/... but this was dropped by most browsers. This is why I am trying ajax. Now in my ajax call I do receive the pdf in the success function as: %PDF-1.4.... This open the browser's pdfviewer correctly and every thing, but the pdf only returns blank pages. The Base64 is a java object that I found on the internet. But I have tried it without the base64 but still now luck. Here is my success function from my ajax call. success: function(data, status, xhr) { var pdfText = Base64.encode(xhr.responseText); var url = "data:application/pdf;base64," + escape(pdfText); var html = '<embed width=100% height=600' + ' type="application/pdf"' + ' src="' + url + '">' + '</embed>'; $("div.inner").html(""); $("div.inner").append(html); }, Can anyone help me? Kind regards
