php myadmin

I have installed phpMyAdmin but i get a connection error when going to the homepage. Is mysql installed with php4? (i assume). I don\'t need to install mysql seperately do i?

Error:

\"You should check the host, username and password in config.inc.php and make sure that they correspond to the information given by the administrator of the MySQL server\"

The problem seems to be the configuration details for host/username and password. I am unsure where to find this info. I\'ve put localhost but that doesn\'t seem to work.

Anyone??
