Joomla MVC saving data from a form

Hi all,

 

I'm wanting to save data from a web form to my mysql db. I know the JTable class has a save method in it, so it shouldn't be too diffcult saving data. Should my form elements be named the same as properties of my JTable subclass? If not, how exactly do I save data? How does it know which elements to save and to which fields in the db?
