permission problem on changing the documentroot

I moved the documentroot from /var/www/html to /www/html. Note that I created www on / later, not a partition. Now even though I give full permission to any folders inside /www/html, is_writable() function returns false, however the function is_writable() returns true for the full permissioned folders inside /var/www/html. I checked to see if there are any selinux policies for httpd that is causing this permission problem, but in vain. Does any one have any idea on what may have caused this problem?

Thanks in advance.
