Wow I'm impressed.  I would've never thought they would switch from IPB to SMF.

Great job on converting to SMF. I am the Doc Coordinator at SMF, Jay (above, and a support specialist there) alerted me that you guys converted and I have to say I am really happy that you have. ;)

well they are probably really excited that a well known site decided to use their script.
Did I help you? Feeling generous? Buy me lunch!
Please, take the time and do some research and find out how much it would have cost you to get your help from a decent paid-for source. A "roll-of-the-dice" freelancer will charge you $5-$15/hr. A decent entry level freelancer will charge you around $15-30/hr. A professional will charge you anywhere from $50-$100/hr. An agency will charge anywhere from $100-$250/hr. Think about all this when soliciting for help here. Think about how much money you are making from the work you are asking for help on. No, we do not expect you to pay for the help given here, but donating a few bucks is a fraction of the cost of what you would have paid, shows your appreciation, helps motivate people to keep offering help without the pricetag, and helps make this a higher quality free-help community :)

Well I personally like it. It makes a change from everyone using IPB, and I am only really used to using vBulletin, IPB and phpBB

Sure, it's probably better from a server-side perspective, and definitely mroe secure. But am I the only one who doesn't like the default theme's colours, the use of <font> tags, or the fact that the forum includes a link to the validator and claims valid XHTML but actually fails the test?

I believe it probably fails because we're using a RC2 (release candidate) version.  Hence, things aren't perfect and don't always validate.

Yeah there was an error in the RC2 theme in which it was missing a </span>.  Its been fixed for the future versions.

The only use of <font> I'm fimilar with is with the PHP highlighting which is controlled by the highlight_string() function which uses font in PHP 4 and span in PHP 5.

Aah. Okay, that explains that. Thanks for clearing that up for me.
Now the only thing I don't get is why every time I post, it brings me back to the parent forum. Couldn't that maybe become some sort of option for those of us whom it merely annoys? It's a useful feature for some, but because I always browse the forum in tabs, I just don't need it around, and I'm used to being able to look over my post and make sure that I said what I meant.

I have another functionality question. I use http://www.phpfreaks...p?action=unread most of the time, and when I click "Mark All Messages As Read" it takes me back to the forum index, instead of keeping me on the unread page. Can I change this?
