update sql script fuctioning but not working

I have a form that submits to an update page. When I submit it acts as if nothing is wrong and redirects to the correct page but it isn't up dating the database does abosubtely nothing and displays no error messages.??

also, you should get into the habbit of forming well formed strings and practice good syntax.

 

for instance

 

UPDATE `tableName` etc etc

 

and '{$var}' instead of '$var' just {$var} in any case

thanks i didn't see that but that wasn't the problem but it would have been the next one.

The problem was it wasn't writing to the database because i forgot to carry over accountid as a hidden form value on the previous page.
