Its entirely up to you.

There is no solid limit. I guess it would depend on your machines memory but in reality, you would run out of text before you ran out of memory.

well, you need to print the text at some time. "return" will not print your html.

Also, you can close you PHP area with ?>, then write some html, and reopen PHP.

This also works with if, while etc.
