PM DISABLED..

Recommended Posts

I agree with phpfreak. I can't count the times that I have received pm's from people that have read a post of mine and are trying to get help out side of the regular channels. I personaly am thankful that the pm system was disabled.

Also I was on of the people that first recieved that horrible message. You know, the one that got pm's shut off in the first place. That was disgusting and a bit of a shock..lol.

So I say leave it the way it is, not that my opinion realy matters on this issue.

Thanks,
Tom

what if you want to get in touch with a member outside the board? suppose you want to add them to IM (MSN or AOL, etc)?

you can't ask a member to post his IM in a public forum. i feel PM's are necessary but that's my opinion.

It would be good if Admins/Mods can use the PM System to warn members or to notify them thier post has been moved etc, rather than leaving a moved link in the forum when you move a thread. Only allow members to read their PMs and not reply. SMF has the admin options for this to happen.

with the pm function on the forum you can Ignore select users with some modification of the system you sould be able to set a globle Ignore and change the current system to accepted members to get pm's from defult being admins mods ect

That might work and would help the spamming and other infomation that is not wanted via pm

Just my thoughts on the matter

Thanx
