$_GET not working properly for japanese characters

hi friends,

  I am new to this forum, any one please help me , my problem follows

i am using Linux server with apache2 and php5 installed , i am developing a file search engine in php

for a Japanese company.

1. i want to get url parameter, so i  used $_GET["string"] every thing is good with IE7 and Mozilla even Japanese character

2.in ie6 the above is working if the url parameter is in english but not working if it is japanese character.

 

please any one help me .. thanks in advance.

thank u for your reply,

  when i am clicking the link with the target link having the path name and filter pattern as a parameter. when i am getting the parameter i am not getting the actual japanese character, i am getting some thing else ,

but if i am substitute the japanese char directly in the php code its working properly that is why i am saying its a problem in server side..

 

but i dont know the actual prob
