zip file name problem

I use  codeigniter zip class to create zip files on the fly.

The problem is that it can not read greek characters at file names.(eg τεστ=>_Ε+__Δ_Ε).

I tried at class mb_convert_encoding($path,"auto"); but nothing.

Server is debian/apache and as  admin said encoding is el_GR.UTF-8
