CircularStopSign
haha it might seem really weird... not trying to copy myspace just so you know. i'm trying to make something like it though where one can sign up and have their own page and pics etc... dont know where to start or what to learn?thanks
Jeremysr
Hmmm..here's a list of stuff you'll probably need to know, so just try searching for them on Google or something.Databases (MySQL)Sessions and Cookies (for letting users log in)Uploading (pictures)Files (Save their page in a file that they can edit (but don't let them edit the actual file especially if php is allowed))And basic PHP stuff like if statements and variables and forms just incase you don't know PHP very well. Because this could be kind of difficult, especially if you don't know many of the things in the above list.

extrovertive
Just trying to create a sign-up system and entering it into the database and then outputting the information to the website is already a lot of work.Work on that first and that will give you an idea. Daniel0
I wouldn't store their page in a file, but I would store the contents of the page in the database. You could use BBCodes too.
GingerRobot
There are a couple of tutorials on here which could help you get started. They are for membership systems which will be the main part of your sitehttp://www.phpfreaks.com/tutorials/65/0.phphttp://www.phpfreaks.com/tutorials/78/0.phpThe second one is a follow up and talks about image uploading. ShogunWarrior
Well I think you can understand them. People would be more understanding if you were an experienced user looking for some advice to build a targeted site for a purpose. When you're not sure what to use, then it seems like you're making a site for the sake of it.Also, MySpace is the scourge of the internet, I wouldn't mention it.
