Mateobus
I am considering making a shopping cart for a very small fashion company. Rather than processing credit cards on the fly, I was wondering if it would be possible to just have the order sent to an e-mail with the items, and the credit card information. Does anyone know if this is feasible and safe? What precautions or security measures should I take in handling credit card infromation (secure server etc.). Or should I just use a third party company. Any suggestions are appreciated.
snowdog
Yes you can do that. We used to do it that way, the cart was on a secure server and then the info would be emailed to our billing department and they would manually enter the card info. We have swictehd to online for ease and convenience now though. As for safe I guess if no one intercepts your email its safe. I dont know what the credit card companies or purchasers think though.Snowdog
Caesar
I would not recommend it. Especially if you are doing this for a client and not yourself. I ALWAYS always recommend using existing solutions when it comes to ecommerce. Mainly for liability reasons but, also for support reasons.http://www.turnkeywebtools.com/products.php?p=sunshopThat solution gives you the option to process credit cards offline (Manually) or use one of many payment gateways. So basically, it gives you options. Not to mention all the product options already built in. I use it for all my clients...especially since it's written in PHP.
