SMTP_PORT in PHP.ini *solved

Recommended Posts

Hello, I cant work out how to use the SMTP_PORT in PHP.ini. I have a normal email account with my isp that i wish to use. Im not sure what port it is or how to use it. I am trying to send emails using mail(). How do i send emails using the Isp email account (Outlook express program) and mail() to a hotmail account?

Thanks, Daniel

The defualt port for a SMTP server is port 25, which is the defualt value for the smtp_port directive in the php.ini

If your ISP uses a port other than port 25, then it appears the smtp server requires authentication in order to use that server. If thats the case then you cannot use that smtp server as the mail function doesnt support any authentication protocols when sending emails.
