New website for web design

second site looks alright.. the logo space is too tall.. for nothing going on in there to begin with..

and the footer.. what is up with all that left-side whitespace.. its actually kinda annoying..

'freephone' what is that about? take that out..

and those links are freaking giant man.. tone them down a bit.

'click here to request a free quote' that could be made a hell of a lot better with an image map..

'our latest work' should probably be a little bit bigger than the other text below it.. it is technically a title..

^^ that seems to be about it :)

Cool, thanks for all the feedback everyone, Its still being built so elements like the click here for a quote arent linked yet..

And why should we take out the freephone? Its so potential clients can call us without being charged? Also the website uses a 4 colum layout so thats where a lot of the whitespace is coming from at the moment, Thanks again everyone!

I'm not saying remove the PHONE NUMBER I'm saying remove 'freephone' put up Customer Service Number or like.. just put the number there, 'freephone' makes you sound like you don't understand english too much lolz

With javascript disabled your 'quick contact'  link at the top does nothing.. javascript should never be used as the main means for anything! provide a fallback.

A site claiming "we're experts" when it comes to 'google friendly sites' and then linking to one of their customers with the text 'here' as the link makes me frown, I would lose my trust immediately. (and why does the image below it with the preview not link to the site? Also are you sure you want to limit yourself to google optimising? Search Engine Optimizing has a nice ring to it, and google is not the dominant search engine all over the globe!

On the services page it states "Concept development and programme management", I'm not familiar with the word programme and neither is my spellings checker..

I also noticed you're using Brittish english instead of American english (or well, I noticed a "specialise" instead of specialize") usually it's a better idea to stick with the american english (google is just going to give 'did you mean *ize?' search suggestion if you search for *ise)

You make some valid points but why should he use American English for a British based website? If I was looking for a webdesigner (with a business based in Britain) and came across a site that used American English I would hit the back button.

There is a fallback being the contact us button in the navigation bar.

The website isnt finished by any means, we were wanting feedback on the general look, aesthetics of the website.

Programme is in the English dictionary, Our target demographic is the small business' based in the UK.

And again were UK based.

Thanks for your feedback, But what were your thoughts on the generaly layout/design?

Layout/Design are fine, although you're losing out on data by placing the text on http://www.signworldgroup.com/al/media/images/topnav.png might want to get rid of the text on the image, and place is as some <h2>'s on the site itself. Or I suppose you could try to get creative with an imagemap... but the used font doesn't seem to be too spectacular so I'd go with using actual text, garantueed to reduce the size of the image and enhance accessbility. (and even make changes easier)

Why isn't the target (href) of the link on top simply to contact-us.html? That what it works without javascript instead of doing nothing.

http://www.signworldgroup.com/al/media/web-design-calculator.html <- that seems like a good place to use the <fieldset> / <legend> combination.

On the same page, why state "Note: To email us, please use the enquiry form." but not use the "enquiry form" text to actually link to it?

(.com as opposed to a .co.uk domain led me to believe it was intended for an international market)

@OP

You're arguing against very good points (Asside from the google not being the dominant search engine, the british vs american english aswell is a stupid point, google doesn't correct those searches, you just place yourself in a different result set, probably better for you that way in any event.)

but some of his other points like a fallback.. or maybe PLACE the QUICK CONTACT button in WITH javascript, that way any1 who disable javascript will naturally not even see that button even exists..

you can't come here and ask for feedback and get defensive.. thats not the right way to respond to the requested information, its constructive criticism not ridicule. learn from the information, accept it, go with it.. but don't argue against it.

What alot of people who come to these forums forget is that most of us don't get paid for providing you our time, so value the time we invest in you, because we give you advice or we help you because we want you to succeed at whatever the endeavor may be.

Sorry I didnt mean to sound defensive? I appreciate all your comments and thanks for taking the time out to do so; Sorry if I seemed defensive it wasnt intentionally, And thanks for pointing out the navigation axeia, I completely overlooked it but Ill make them changes asap.

In regards to my "Quick contact" is it possible to use a statement where if javascript is disabled it would take you to the contact page?

Thanks again and sorry if i come across as defensive

Yes, just link it to the contact page using an <a> tag and add a "return false;" on the onclick in the JavaScript
