Just wondering if anyone knows if it is possible to retrieve the local computer username in windows using php?

i think you can do that in java but im not to sure

I am not sure but i think it is not possible as PHP being a Server side language does get only the information about client only what is passed in HTTP headers. and i think user name is not passed. but still worth checking...

the local machine, being the server.

remote machine being the user's machine.

Anyhow.. for the latter (user's machine) no.

For the local/server php_uname() may contain the info you need.
