web design sites

Hi all
I'm looking at turning my site (http://www.crashandburn.co.uk) into a proper 'Web Design' site, but i'm a little stuck for ideas, mainly on content especially for the front page. I want to keep it relatively informal, but still professional at the same time (ie, no Comic Sans fonts or Table layouts). And obviously I want to show my worth, but don't want to resort to AJAX and Flash and little tricks all over the place. Possibly i'll have a download section for a few scripts, as a few I use at the moment that i've developed, I'm quite proud of and work very well for me.

So...not looking to rip off anyone here, but I'd be keen to see everybody's main web-design site, whether it be a company or individual developer. Just so we have some guidelines here -  I don't want to see posts+links from anyone cheeky enough to think that their social-networking/personal/shopping cart/hosting site is what I want to see, although if someone has a site that might not yet be live (ie, under construction, etc) and has any tips to share, fire away.

Post your links!
Cheers
Mark

Mark - you never send me email. I keep hoping ...  ;D

My primary source of free images are

www.sxc.hu
www.morguefile.com

When desperate, I invest a dollar at places like

www.dreamstime.com

Apart from those, I've bought (on eBay) a zillion images on CD - like the Corel gallery - for around $5/CD and I also have the Hemera PhotoObjects collection

haha yeah definitely sent one. check your junk mail as most of my emails (for some reason) keep turning up there. still...
thanks for the links! had a good look, etc. when i first got into doing sites, i tended to use any photo i could find on Google, etc, without even really thinking about issues and stuff. silly i know, but now i'm alot more serious in what i do, i'm more concious about things like that but still one to cut corners with the cost :)

thanks Andy

Try a different subject line instead of "Hoodia will change your life" or whatever you use:)

The sxc.hu gallery tends to get hammered in the evenings (Euro-time) and even though they've upgraded the server you may get very slow responses.

I actually have a portfolio site I use as a freelance reference where the ToR don't allow you to post your 'real' site/'real' email.  You may get some ideas from www.your-portfolio.net (shazam, what a name!) but I haven't put the same level of care into it as my real site. Guess that's a hint to self.

I'm not sure exactly what you are looking for.  If I ever get a chance to continue working on it, I will provide IT related articles on my site (http://www.jcombs.net).  My business site features some information about web design and technology, but just as an overview to my services (http://www.multimedia-technologies.com).  If you want a good idea for web design related articles specifically, you can always look at places like alistapart.com.

Hi, thanks for the reply.
That's exactly what I'm looking for. I tend to get stuck on the content when thinking about sites like this, so am curious to see people's "Web Design Services" sites.
Funnily enough I was looking at your two earlier today as they're both well crafted.

Cheers

I've really really really been slacking on developing my site.  I've just been swamped at work and home.  I'd really like to get it going one of these days. Most articles will actually be IT related, not web related.  I work as an IT Specialist/Sys Admin and like to take notes on certain tasks that sometimes are not well documented.
