Hi there,

I am trying to connect to a Microsoft SQL server 2005 (IIS 6.0) using mssql_connect and I am returned:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: mssql_connect()

I am running PHP V 4.3.4

I tried adding the extension in the php.ini file but when I do Apache/1.3.29  does not load....

please help  ???

Make sure you read through the manual to verify that you've taken all the necessary steps to enable the mssql functions.  There are some dlls and other items that need to be setup properly.

Info: PHP Manual

Have a read of this FAQ.

NOTE: That FAQ is for the mysql extension. However you can still follow it to enable the mssql extension. The mssql extension is called php_mssql.dll. Also you need to copy a file called ntwdblib.dll from MS SQL to the php installation folder, or the Windows follder (WINNT or WINNT/SYSTEM32). Have a read of this page for more info.

the file ntwdblib.dll is not found on my SQL2005 server... is it needed? Can I grab it from somewhere else?

According to the manual you can get this file from the MS SQL Server CD.
