I wanted to know what you all think of http://kilbad.com/index.php?id=wa, particularly the bottom section with the mp3's and mov file?  I am concerned things are too overwhelming/cluttered?

If you also have any other feedback about the site, please let me know!

Thank you so much!  Brendan

You answered your own question there!

Firstly - I think your site would benefit greatly if you put a light background colour in your main text/center container. This would draw the human eye into the middle of your site. Also the padding on the top is a bit much In My Opinion.

Your list of <a href's> is not done correctly. You have used css to wrap the <a href> in a horizontal bar, meaning the mouse will hover over the link on the far right of the webpage.

You need a bullet graphic for the list of <a href's>. For your mp3 and mov's etc, it would benefit from a suitable graphic.

Currently your site is too minimilistic and and unsectioned/contained.

steviewdr, thank you so much for your feedback!

A follow-up question:: How do you feel about the ~ as a bullet for the link list? I would prefer to stay away from a graphic, and wanted to get your thoughts on those.  I added them this morning.

Futhermore, I am going to correct the extended links ASAP.  That ws a great pickup on your part!

Also, I agree that the site is minimilistic (though, I disagree that the site is too minimilistic).  However, this is obviously a matter of opinion that we can probably agree to disagree on; yet, I was not sure what you ment when you stated that the site is "unsectioned/contained."  Could you elborate on that?  I am interested in your feedback!

Thanks again for taking a look at my site!

The ~'s are better. But seeing as it is a list, you SHOULD use <ul><li>'s. I also prefer using square bullets for lists.

As regards what I was saying about unsectioned etc.

Well with every list - you need a heading.
You have NO headings on that page.
You should use <h1>main heading</h1>

and <h2>Downloads</h2> for your list of downloads etc.

Follow-up::

1) The links are now in an unordered list

2) I now use <h1>, <h2>, <h3>, and <h4> when needed on every page.  Ironically, I think the page I asked you to review, and the frontpage, lend themselves the LEAST to outline form with the header tags.. which I realize should generally be brief headers of text, not paragraphs of text..  what do you think with how I structured things across the entire site?  PLEASE NOTE: I did not include a title at the top of the link list because the last paragraph is really an intro to the list of links.  What do you think?

3) The use of the <ul> corrected the extending of the links to the right.. which turned out to only be a IE problem, not FF, which is probably why I did not see it.

4) All w3c links on my pages validate AND show the page outline, for your convenience, if you want to quickly look at anything

Thanks again!

I check the website in::

I.E. version 6.0.2800.1106,
Netscape 7.1, and
FF 1.5.0.7

..and in IE, the was a slight "bulge" in the right side of the main container for only the kilbad.com/index.php?id=wa page (which should be corrected now).  Was there something else that looked spaced out to you?  To me, the rest of the site looks fine in all the other browsers, included IE, except for the one bug I mentioned above.

Also, I have run a few pages of the site at browsershots.org::

1) http://browsershots.org/website/http://kilbad.com/index.php?id=wa
2) http://browsershots.org/website/http://www.kilbad.com/ (resubmitted today)
3) http://browsershots.org/website/http://kilbad.com/index.php?id=photos&album=9.24.06.heartwalk&page=1
4) http://browsershots.org/website/http://kilbad.com/index.php?id=friends
5) http://browsershots.org/website/http://kilbad.com/index.php?id=sitemap

Hopefully they don't expire!

Thanks for your sharp eye to detail!

Brendan
