Default.php help

I have a website that came with Default.php as the opening page, i am used to index.html being my default page. My index.php file is copied here,

?>
I have a problem with SEO and directories submissions that don't recognise my site.  What can I do to fix this problem or improve it.  If you could recommend a tutorial for this it would be great.
