Hey all,

I'm relatively new to PHP. I've probably dedicated about five hours to learning the language so far but have found it surprisingly similar to other languages I know.

I began learning PHP with a particular project in mind: I need to be able to have several users log into a server and be able to manipulate or add to text files in a similar to how one would post on a forum, only these files will have to be read by a flash file, using ActionScript. I had thought of creating a couple of accounts with unique passwords that would allow certain users access to their own text files and be able to edit them using a window very similar to the one I'm posting in now.

Is there a way to do this securely and (relatively) simply? Or would you recommend taking another path? Or perhaps you think I’m crazy.

Honesty would be greatly appreciated,
Greenie. ;)

MySQL 5.0 || Apache 2.0.59 || PHP 1.5.6

You'll want to look into building a login system using sessions. If you search the main site you should find a tutorial somewhere.

Thanks, thorpe.

That sounds like a plan to me. :)

If anyone needs me I'll be at one of the following:
User-aware PHP scripts
PHP Membership System V2.0
MySQL 5.0 || Apache 2.0.59 || PHP 1.5.6
