correct use of constants

hey guys,

i've been coding in PHP for a while now, but still not really touched on constants  ..i know, naughty right?! :P

so in the effort of cleaning out a few variables which don't change their value throughout the execution of the script, i was just wondering whether the small snippet of code below is the correct way of holding the data:

define('COMPID', md5($_SERVER['HTTP_USER_AGENT']));

which i have used to replace:

$COMPID = md5($_SERVER['HTTP_USER_AGENT']);

so as you can see, the code is grabbing the user's user agent, and using it as an ID; this data is not changed at all throughout the running of the script, it is just referred to.

so is it okay to inject a variable ($_SERVER) directly into the constant?

i did google this first, but the examples i found of constants all used static/pre-defined data.

thanks for any advice (:
