// To send HTML mail, the Content-type header must be set
$headers  = 'MIME-Version: 1.0' . "\r\n";
$headers .= 'Content-type: text/html; charset=iso-8859-1' . "\r\n";

// Additional headers
$headers .= 'To: Mary <mary@example.com>, Kelly <kelly@example.com>' . "\r\n";
$headers .= 'From: Birthday Reminder <birthday@example.com>' . "\r\n";
$headers .= 'Cc: birthdayarchive@example.com' . "\r\n";

You probably have to set your headers to HTML, like this:
<?php
$to      = 'nobody@example.com';
$subject = 'the subject';
$message = 'hello';
$headers  = 'MIME-Version: 1.0' . "\r\n";
$headers .= 'Content-type: text/html; charset=iso-8859-1' . "\r\n";
$headers .= 'From: Your Name <your_address@example.com>' . "\r\n";

mail($to, $subject, $message, $headers);
?>
I did exactly like redarrow said
But you said it didn't work, right?

Try adding the 'Content-type: text/html; charset=iso-8859-1' to your header. The code that I gave you works fine for me.
