Are we allowed to use code from the PHP Code Library until we lean enough php to create a similar script ourselves? (I did not see this mentioned in the FAQ.)

if you're referring to the code library on the main PHPFreaks site, yes, you're more than welcome to use the snippets available there. the intent of them is to give people a jumping off point, so to speak. take what you will use, study it, and learn what you can! then, as you learn and have questions, come back here and we'll try to help you through the rocks you run into.
