Newbie Question on free PHP scripts - thanks Melissa

Hi Guys/Girls

I would be grateful if anyone can offer some advice, I need to set up a site for a local charity, the basis of it is content. Each content item consists of a photo a title / category / description. There would in total be a few 1000 entries into this and I would want to search by any of the fields available. I want to use PHP and mySQL as the database and have some webspace already that has a mySQL DB and runs PHP scripts. What I am looking for if it exists is any freeware that performs this kind of action that I could tailor to me needs. I guess this is kind of a content management system?, can anyone give me a clue where I could source a few good scripts or freeware that would help me out, thanks Melissa

The content management systems that are out there will probably be overkill for what you need them for, but have a look at http://www.opensourcecms.com/ which lists the leading opensource CMS's and even allows you to try them out. That's the best advice I can give you based on the limited information you provided. Feel free to post further details and maybe we can better point you in the right direction...
