The mysqli extension is missing

I am using WAMP.  I am brand new to WAMP coming from a .NET background.  I searched around the only fix I could find was when the mysqli extension was commented out, but the extension in the php.ini file is not commented out.  I did however change my apache port to 8080 (I have skype, teamviewer, and VS 2010).  I am assuming that is why I am getting the ERROR: the mysqli extension is missing.  Can some one point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance.
