bluedolphin Posted July 24, 2012 Share Posted July 24, 2012 I'm a PHP programmer and I'm about to develop a pretty large website and have dabbled a bit in ZF, however I want to ensure I do this website the right way so I'm going back to basics and going to learn ZF or ZF2 from scratch. The website won't be going live for a at least 6 months, therefore, would I be best learning and developing the site in ZF2 rather than ZF? Also, does anyone recommend the best place to start? Shall I simply go through the manual? Does the ZF2 manual even exist yet as it's still in beta? Any help/tips will be much appreciated. trq Posted July 24, 2012 Share Posted July 24, 2012 I would recommend Symfony2 over any of the Zend frameworks. Even if just for performance sake. IMO, Symfony is better designed, has better documentation and a much much richer community around it. Symfony2 has also been stable for a long while now, while ZF2 is still in Beta. Thanks for your reply. I did consider Symfony2 to be honest but because I had no experience in it I wasn't sure it was the right thing to use. Do you think it could be picked up fairly quickly? I have however used both version 1 & 2 of zend and symfony, and have also done a lot of research into them and a lot of other frameworks. I'm hearing more and more about the benefits of nginx so I'm also intrigued to try this as well rather than Apache which I am used to. I noticed the links in your signature, I'll be sure to check them out but don't worry I won't be using your framework just yet!
