i did something simular with my current project.

so what i did in the main part of the page was something like this to allow me to view single news feeds in my iframe.

reason for me doing this was because i have a RSS feed, so when the user clicks on a news topic in my RSS it would direct them to that topic only.

<?php
   if($_GET['feed']){
       $frame = 'home.php?feed='.$_GET['feed'];
   } else {
       $frame = 'home.php';
   }
?>
<iframe class="mainframe" src="<?php echo $frame; ?>" name="mainframe">
</iframe>
