Data from XML

How can i get all the item titles, descriptions & links from http://feeds.bbci.co.uk/news/rss.xml.

 

I managed it with php but I need to use client side scripting.

 

Desired output would be something like this:

<a href="link">
<span class="item-title">title</span
<span class="item-description">description</span>
</a>

<a href="link">
<span class="item-title">title</span
<span class="item-description">description</span>
</a>

<a href="link">
<span class="item-title">title</span
<span class="item-description">description</span>
</a>
