Nothing in that code will do it. Do you have any javascript on the page that might be putting them there?

What does the css for the class errorPrint look like, which are used in the spans after each input?

There is some kind of invisible character between the ><'s

 

Just deleted them and type >< again.

You need to fill in the value of your text. It will become the default value. If you did not have default value it will become symbol.

I'm guessing you have some "Required Field" highlighting CSS that is causing the problem.
