php7 problems... php5-common not found?

Recommended Posts

I have a LAMP server running Debian and Apache2 fine with php7 that I set up about a week ago. I am trying to set up a second one but using basically the same process as the first server set up, the second server refuses to run php scripts. It just spits them out unprocessed to a browser. It doesn't appear to be a MIME problem. So I tried to go back to php5 using "apt-get install php" then "apt-get install php5" then "apt-get install php5-common" all not found. Are they trying to make php7 the only option? Why is this so much harder now? Boy, gone are the days when Infoseek would sort search hits most recent first. So much antique garbage out there now.
