Reading a Zip file on a Linux box

Morning all,

I want to be able to open a .zip file for reading on a Linux box.  My PHP installation isn't compiled with any kind of zip support but it is compiled with the zlib library.  Is it possible to open plain .zip files with this library?

I'm sure I saw a class that did this, so I'm assuming it is possible, but I don't want to use anything third party just yet.
