Why Linux?

Seems like a silly question, but here are a few reasons:
Open Source, Based on Unix, Ability to modify to your needs, stable, secure, more geeky...

Linux makes a great server in my opinion.  The terminal is a lot easier to understand and navigate compared to windows.  There is a large community, you can compile a slim kernel to fit your hardware, etc.

These guys all have it. But I figured I'd echo in here too.

Linux gives you many distinct advantages over windows:

Free

Unlimited Customization Potential (albeit with a little work)

Less susceptible to malware (Not exactly virus proof as was noted before, but much easier to secure)

A true multi-user and multi-threading environment (once you see it in action, you'll realize that what M$ calls "mulit-threading" is really a joke.)
Basically it boils down this: Linux is a "tinkerer's" OS. If you like fixing things yourself and "getting under the hood" a little give Linux a try. Until then, use Windows for games until the drivers/games get ported.

I use Slackware (I wouldn't recommend it for beginners) and Debian.
