Using Login Script and IPB user database

I also have an IPB messageboard. I want to be able to use the IPB database for users instead of using the database I currently have for that login script. So people only have to register for the message board to view those videos, instead of the videos and message board being seperate. To me, this seems like a big undertaking. I thought I might as well give it a shot here. Any help would be great. Pointers, code, ideas, etc.
